Shay Given in? Yes please

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-1341568/Gerard-Houllier-Aston-Villa-end-Shay-Givens-Manchester-City-hell.html?
I would love to see Given here, but with the talk from GH of a younger keeper and to keep Brad on I can't see it.

NOTW reporting fergie been in contact about cut price 13milliom deal for Ashley and that Watford have a sell on clause.

I sincerely hope you have not paid to read that shag rag's website.

Don't believe it, myself. On many possible grounds.

Ow no, joys of an iPhone, Aston Villa news App all articles can be viewed for free.

I have no problem if he goes to united because it is a bog step up. But I've a feeling Ash would end up like Berbatov, great against lower opposition but a luxury in the big games.

But 13 million is too cheap, at least 18 if it's in January!

Yeah, it's a step up.  The problem is that it will always be that way if we keep selling our better players whenever a 'bigger' club comes calling.

Can't see any way Villa could sell Young in Jan now that both our manager and board have said this won't be happening.  As for £13m?  Fuck off would be the correct response.

We are stuck in catch 22

On one hand Ash is our best player.

On the other he is a non scoring striker.

So what do we do? I'd rather keep him obviously but I dont know!

We need to get as much as possible if that's the route that we are going down. It sounds cheap but whats the going rate for a player entering the last year of his contract? We got £12m for Barry so....

Stoke will apparently offer £5m for Steven Ireland. Snap their hands off.

So, if he's on the reported 68k a week, we'd have to pay him 33k a week for the remaining 3.5 years of his deal?

I make that out to be circa £6m quid. We might as well keep him.

50k a week he is on. The thing with a team like Stoke is they will push the boat out for a trophy signing.

The players like Ireland  on fat wages  insisting their  contract is maintainted  if their current club wishes to offload them will evantually drive the salaries to a more manageable level as the Clubs realise they have no one else to blame but themselves. New contracts will either be protected in favour of the club  or structured to avoid the wage liability.

I think the player has every right in wanting to maintain their  salary.

Yup.

Gabby, Heskey, Delfouneso, +1.

Absolutely fine, as long as the +1 is a good one.

We will only be playing with one most of the time. Some painful decisions will have to be made as to who will miss out once we have everyone back and some new faces in.
