Linked with Izaguirre at Celtic. Looks like a top class attacking left back (in the SPL admittedly).

Mind we could have had him for a few hundred grand in the transfer window just past and it's not like he was an unknown as he played at the world cup.

Klose on loan for the rest of the year and get rid of Carew.
A long term replacement in the summer once we know whether The Fonz is good enough.
Your mention of Klose reminds me that one of the best strikers in Germany last season was the lad who moved to Bayern from Hamburg (he scored at least once against us in the Euro Vase). He looks class.

Olic?

Yeah it was Olic, he is brilliant, plays alot like Tevez, they wouldn't sell him. I'm sure he has been out with a bad injury for ages, but I'm not sure?

I thought those days were long gone.

I own the copyright for "We should sign Ricardo Fuller". I've been saying it to a lot of mates of mine even when Stoke were in the Championship. He's got everything; power, pace, first touch, awareness, great postioning and a great finisher. He was a player I thought MON should of signed and I'm really baffled how he doesn't play for Stoke every week. Who on earth is John Walters?!

Not a bad shout that - at the right price.

Just seen that Kranjcar says he will want out at spuds if he's not playing regulary. That's another good option for us I suppose. Although he's not a defensive midfielder, he'd be a good player to have I think.

Good option for January............

Seeing as he's not playing regularly at Stoke unlike Kenwyne Jones, we'd get Fuller at around £7-8 million probably. I just checked out wikipedia and nearly fell off my chair when I saw Stoke bought him for 500k...

I know there is a couple of Stoke fans on this forum, I'd love if one of them dropped me a PM on why Fuller doesn't play enough for Stoke despite being their best striker.

Two words with Fuller: injuries and inconsistency. His fitness has always been a problem, and he has a bit of a Ledley King situation where he can't really do much training and can't really last 90 minutes - hardly in-keeping with the kind of team football GH wants us to play. He's also a bit too much of a wildcard, quite a selfish player, which can be an asset when he's on a good day but a huge weakness when he's not playing so well.

Fuller's class. He looks great... playing in a Stoke team. Imagine the totality of greatness he'd be if he played for the Villa.

He's 31. A couple of years ago maybe but he won't exactly be an improvement on Heskey and Carew age wise.

I'm a big fan but it's too late now.

Shocked it was 8 years ago he had the good spell on loan at Hearts.

Yeah but it took a while for Fuller's football career to get going - he's a late developer so to say unlike Heskey or Carew. I don't think it's anything to do with his age tbh, if his fitness is good like his teamates than age should be just considered a number.

As it's the Daily Star, it's almost certainly bullshit, but here goes.

Aston Villa manager Gerard Houllier has earmarked France striker Bafetimbi Gomis as the man he wants to replace forward John Carew, with whom he had a row at the club's training ground on Monday.

Details on him here

Dont know a fat lot about him but his goalscoring record isnt massively impressive although not too bad.

Of the other suggestions, Fuller is solid but unspectacular and getting on a bit now. He's also the type of player MON would buy and I want to get away from that.
Kranjcar is a prettyboy wanker who has one good game in ten. So no thanks.
