the club needs to do something to make this years shirts appealling and worth it,  this pathetic "good will gesture" of keeping the prices at £45 is a disgrace.  even paying the £35 at soccer sports will be pointless for 6 months wear
They should bring out a special limited retro edition of the pinky/purple shirt for the ever increasing number of drama queens.

it's a poor situation, but the answer before this and after this is the same. Don't buy it. Poor sales will have a greater impact to those at Nike and the club than any level of whining in my opinion.

Does the quality issue have anything to do with the fact that it's being made from recycled plastic? I recall that Nike kits are now made from polyester spun from old plastic bottles. All the WC teams that wore Nike were being manufactured in the same way and I guess United, Barca et al are the same. I know that's not the issue being discussed but I wondered if that was anything to do with it.

So correct me if I'm wrong, but are you suggesting, curiousorange, things might actually be better with a lack of bottle?

Do people really throw shirts away after 6 months? I still wearing a shirt with NTL on it. It's a bit tight these days mind.

That should go down well with the drama queens, as 'vintage' is very much in fashion. Don't think about wearing the Acorns shirt though, apparently "it's soooooooooooooo last season".

Hi,

I'd like to apologise for my insulting post on Saturday evening; to the posters and to the moderators for having to deal with it and giving me a 24 hour cooling-off period.

No excuses; alcohol was involved, but I was in a very good mood and it's not even a subject I'm impassioned about. So I don't know where that came from! I obviously have been paying no attention to my own signature.

Once again, I apologise for being rude and will fully understand if, in the future, my posts are not given much credibility. Although, that already may be the case...

Trouble with price is that it's set by Nike.  We probably can't drop the price by more than what Nike say so.

Nike fuck up the order and then Nike say Villa can't drop the price to placate their customers!

If this is the case and there are no clauses in the contract for late delivery due to poor manufacturing then you get the feeling that whoever negotiated on behalf of the club was somewhat walked all over!

Whilst the idea of getting on board with Nike would no doubt have been exciting, I doubt if it was just signed off on without a good business/legal pair of eyes looking over it.

Still, Nike seem to be a bunch of pricks!

Wise words. I might have been tempted when the price came down a bit despite my lack of fondness for the design but now I'm sticking with what I have.

Buy a retro shirt instead as has been said a few times.

Not quite, Dave. It would appear the club received compensation from Nike for the late delivery, lost sales.

Don't worry about it.

We all do the booze / internet / rant thing from time to time.

I'm in agreement with those who think Nike should be given the boot (I refuse to pronounce it to rhyme with spiky, as well- I love cycling but I've never rode a bikey) as soon as their contract is up. I refuse to believe that anyone buys or refuses to buy a shirt because of the manufacturer alone- it's the design that matters. Which is a shame because I think this season's design is the worst Nike have done for us. However, shirt revenue is a significant part of any team's income nowadays, so a shift to a supplier that can get the gear in the shops before the season is needed. Reebok, Diadora and Hummel managed it.

On the plus side though, shots of Villa supporters in the stands on TV will still still feature the word "Acorns" in vast numbers. No bad thing.

I'd not heard about this. I can't say I care to be honest, but maybe they're delaying them because everybody knows that the new shirt looks a little bit shit?
