General Krulak here:

1. It is asking a lot of me to reply to the multiple comments re. How bad the Board is, how mixed up the Manager situation is, how Randy did not follow the advice of an individual, how the kit got hosed up, etc etc.  It is obvious that if I take each issue and give my sense of where it stands two things will happen: 1. It will be in the papers the next day and 2.  There will still be people who don't believe me.  Both are pretty much lose-lose.  Suffice it to say that there is much more to each issue that what is put into a post on this site.  I have explained about GH...that we knew he had obligations to honor and are fine with it.  Obviously there are those who don't agree.  So be it.  Randy and the Board have not been idle on any of what has taken place but to come on this site and discuss what has happened is NOT worth the grief that comes with it...particularly as it relates to the media.  Bottom Line:  as you might expect, my view is quite a bit different from what has been stated!!

As is maybe General.
Even you have to admit, its hardly a totally satisfactory state of affairs at the moment.
Sorry media watching, forget I said that.

All I'd like to know General is when Houllier is going to start.  If he has to work some notice, then so be it, but surely he's got a definite starting date with us?

I understand the media are watching general but if you believe the club are right in their stance then what are you worrying about the media for? We really seem to be crying out for leadership- doug for all his faults could never be accused of hiding away when things got tough- how many times in his 4 years has randy actually spoken directly to the fans?

Also what football knowledge does Paul Faulkner have to be running things? I ask as I have little knowledge of him, Steve stride worked his way up and had respect and knew the game from his years at villa but what has Faulkner achieved for such a high profile job?

Whether the media are watching or not we need leadership general and answers to questions from our chairman , rather than hear about him being in America for a new season of the NFL- can the two jobs combine ?

General-I fail to see what the fuss is about. I may not be overjoyed about the appointment but it is perfectly understandable to me that in any recruitment situation there are a lot of factors that have to be considered and cannot be discussed openly. That's normal.
Also, the board have there reasons for making their decisions and they may be proved wrong, right or indifferent as time goes on. That's the way it always is.
My problem is that it seems sometimes you try and be all things to everybody, not a good idea! The internet is an imperfect media for communications-particularly when it comes to emotions-which is what we live and breathe with football.
We don't have to agree to want similar things.

General, there's a world of difference between accepting that Houllier has commitments, and being unaware of when he'll actually take charge.

If his commitments mean he'll start next month, fine. In 2 and a half months, it makes the appointment a tad baffling, but fine, at least we know. Appointing him, unveiling him to the world, and then having it come out he hadn't even signed a contract and doesn't have the foggiest when he'll start isn't fine, and it isn't the same as just accepting he needs to honour his commitments. Hell, I wouldn't expect Gold and Sullivan to make such a meal of things.

Either the club knows when Houllier will begin, and for some reason, you've decided it best not to tell us, or someone needs firing for incompetence.

Exactly!

It's a straight question, General.

I have asked the same direct question over on VT - lets see if we get a straight answer.

General Krulak here:

1. how Randy did not follow the advice of an individual,

If Randy was to follow anyone's individual advice at least it would have been the advice of one of our greatest ever managers.

HI General. While not wishing to appear rude I have to say I think you have painted yourself into a corner on this forum. We are all aware that you cannot actually say anything of substance so as not to undermine the club, and that is appreciated fully.
You can answer direct questions concerning ticket allocations and the state of the premises/toilets/hot dog stands but apart from that, diplomacy has to reign.

If you cannot answer direct questions to very serious questions, i.e. When do we actually see a new manager, or better still, when does the formality of an actual signed contract from the new manager emerge, don't frequent this board or any other.
As fans, people can still log there opinions and views, you can read them and report back the general mood etc. I myself have 'vented my spleen' today, thats what these boards are for, you will read, discount or note as is appropriate and thats it.

I think that your contact with the fans has been hugely positive on the whole, however, I do think its actually time that Mr. Lerner himself put in an appearance occasionally, (not here, obviously) and also addressed the fans in some capacity.

The fans deserve and need some sort of reassurance from the Chairman and I suspect that it wouldn't go amiss amongst the team if they saw the club voicing positive overtones publically.

Until the new manager arrives, Villa need a leader. Please step forward Mr. Lerner.

More chance of Houllier turning up at the next home game with a stadium's supply of home shirts.

I'm sorry General that is not good enough, fuck the media, we are a joke to them already so why worry about them.

Show some respect to us loyal fans and tell us what's bloody going on!

Now that the General has stopped saying anything helpful (when we need him most) - what's the point in continuing with his thread?

It's back to a bunker mentality.
