God there's some bollocks being talked on this site at the moment, mostly by people who are posting over emotional, knee-jerk reactions to a massively difficult situation. Clearly much of the anti-board content cropping up is the result of people not thinking these things through properly.

I'd say it's actually a result of the board not thinking things through properly, but each to their own.

A lot of it isn't.

I thought some of the crap thrown at the board over the summer re transfers / sell to buy was unfounded nonsense, and it struck me that they'd built up more than enough credit on the transfers front to be trusted.

The managerial situation, on the other hand, is looking a bit of a mess, and - even making allowances for the shit the previous manager dropped us in - I don't think they've handled it particularly well.

I'll say the board are doing a good job when I think they are, and I very often think that way, but I'm not going to ignore it if I think they mess things up. I suspect most people on here take the same approach.

General,

We are out of Europe already,
Carling cup game next week,
Players making basic defensive errors on a weekly basis,
Barely any coaches at a club supposedly aiming to challenge for Europe,
No idea, or at least supporters are no informed of when the new managers arrival will be,
Shirt released upto 6 months after some clubs have already released theres,

You tell me this, is this good enough for our club?

We are drifting and this season is a few weeks away from being a write off.

General,

i for one am very happy with everything at Villa,

we have played 4 prem games and ok won 2 and lost 2 but we are still 7th, (look at Spurs and Liverpool)

we have a new manager coming in that will be a breath of fresh air around villa and can turn our game around (defensively)

we have Bolton on saturday (our whipping boys at Villa) sohopefully we can get 3 points and move back upto 4th or 5th.

its very early days and i for one have all the confidence in the world that this will be an impressive season!!!

keep up the good work to all General!

Thanks

also big up for Downing last night he looked really good!

For someone who walked out in such a strop as O'Neill seemed to do, he has remained very tight lipped on the whole affair. Can you shed any light on why he may have chosen to do so as presumably he would have had no compensation and, therefore, no secrecy clause.

DC5, I asked the very same question on this thread about 3 weeks ago.

Has the question been answered to your satisfaction?

Presumably O'Neill would have had some confidentiality clauses in his contract, and these would survive the termination of his contract, so he still wouldn't be entirely free to say what he wanted.  If the club then went on the record about why he left, there wouldn't be any confidentiality, and then O'Neill could say what he wanted.  So the club is saying nothing.

Apart from that, it isn't really Lerner's style to wash his dirty linen in public, is it?

Anyway that's my guess...

General Krulak here:

1. It is asking a lot of me to reply to the multiple comments re. How bad the Board is, how mixed up the Manager situation is, how Randy did not follow the advice of an individual, how the kit got hosed up, etc etc.  It is obvious that if I take each issue and give my sense of where it stands two things will happen: 1. It will be in the papers the next day and 2.  There will still be people who don't believe me.  Both are pretty much lose-lose.  Suffice it to say that there is much more to each issue that what is put into a post on this site.  I have explained about GH...that we knew he had obligations to honor and are fine with it.  Obviously there are those who don't agree.  So be it.  Randy and the Board have not been idle on any of what has taken place but to come on this site and discuss what has happened is NOT worth the grief that comes with it...particularly as it relates to the media.  Bottom Line:  as you might expect, my view is quite a bit different from what has been stated!!

What a breath of fresh air

lol just for those that don't know...

Noun   1.   breath of fresh air - a welcome relief; "the new management was like a breath of fresh air"
easing, moderation, relief - a change for the better

General, you mention grief and the media. So, why use this site as an outlet for press statements when it suits, and when the locals are upset you use the media as an excuse for your silence?

Oh, they found a replacement did they? When does our manager start?

This is bloody ridiculous now.

General, there seems to be some question that the Board have found their new manager, now.

< shakes head thingy>

yeah, shakes head thingy is right. A manager appointed who doesn't even know when he can start. We're not some young Bint (apologies to all young bints) who have given their notice into Tesco to go and work at the local nursery.

Did we sign Ireland by the way ?
I bet all the Board and Houllier know when he will take charge, even if you haven't a clue.
About when he'll start, I mean, as well
