General we do appreciate you coming on here, but do you actually read the thread's posts before you comment?
Because you are not even answering half the questions in this thread.

General,
You seem to keep coming out with the same comments. It sounds like your actually trying to convince yourself that everythings ok. What with the comments Houllier has come out with over the past few days and now with the kit situation. Things seem to be getting worse, not better. Do you really not know when Gerard will be starting work? This would be crazy! I hope he's not getting paid!

Crikey. The kit situation isn't good I'll grant you but it's not the end of the world. As for Houllier, do you think relegation is on the cards if he doesn't start tomorrow? Or do you think we might just make it through alive if he doesn't start until after Bolton? What a ludricrously dramatic post. Imagine if you were a fan of Man City. You'd have completely melted down given what they've spent and the start they've made. Honestly, this is getting ridiculous.

is this delayed kit going to be a two year deal or will the shirts be replaced one again next year?

I don't think relegation is on the cards at all but I pay good money to travel up and watch the Villa. If we were going to be relegated i'd still go and watch. But i get the feeling this season isn't being taken seriously.
1) squad not being strengthened
2) dunno when the manager starts ( or when he can get to games )
3) out of europe already ( again )
4) can't even buy the replica shirt until November. ( september was long enough to wait )

General Krulak here:

1.  Vinnie Chase 84:  Call John Greenfield at Villa Park, ext 500.

2.  pmk1981:  The money from Nike will be utilized to help meet lost revenue...we know that we will not sell as many shirts because of this and lowering the price will not solve the problem.

3.  I do read the entire thread...BUT, the issues we have been facing over the past month have caused me to focus on them vice individual comments and questions.  Rest assured that I pass all comments to the Club...good, bad and ugly.

4.  I confess that I don't know what our contract with Nike calls for with re. to the shirt deal...a shirt every year or if we can go with one every two years.   I am sure that our legal people are looking at that.  Our deal with Nike has one more year to run.

5.  West Sussex Villan:  Since I don't agree with your premise, I have a hard time answering you.  Life doesn'ty always go smoothly...I can tell you that from long experience.  I am not pollyanna but I am also not going to fall on my sword over what has happened over the past month or so.  Simply put, we have been faced with certain situations...we have done our best to fix them as they have arisen.  I am sure that some Fans feel we could have done better...so be it.  All I can tell you is that we are focused on what is coming, not on what has happened.  I have never thought that steering by the wake is a good idea...so we will steer by the stars.  We are focused on tomorrow!!

General, as a NED, please advise the board that you want this cancelled now so that we can look at Adidas and Puma as the alternatives as Nike has surely got to be binned now, we can't put any more money the way of Nike surely.

Merci beaucoup !

Hi General,

Ok i realise that,  but are the club going to do anything for the fans who have spent their hard earned money year in year out on these shirts ?

Lets face it, We have had lots of problems with shirts and sponsors etc... over the years, remember when we started a season without a sponsor! [although this did mean that I got a shirt without a sponsons name on it]
I have to admit that I have not bought myself a new shirt for many years, due to 1. cost and 2. changing kit every season

We all know how the marketing of a new kit has been done

1. The new away shirt is launched prior to the summer holidays, so we all buy it to wear when on our holidays
2. the new home shirt is launched just prior to the new season starting, thus generating sales on both home and away shirts.

For a company the size of Nike not to be able to solve a simply error in a quicker timeframe is pretty piss poor!

As for the design, can't say I like it much [but I imagine that there is a whole lot that do] i always think that a football 'shirt' should have a collar!

The main issue with the kit is the timing of a possible new shirt after this one, like others have said, to spend £45 on a shirt that will be out of date in 7-8 months is not good [considering these times we are in] it will be interesting to know if our season ticket sales are down [Wolves are]

I'm a little unsure as to why we canot state now how long the design is valid for???? surely this was part of the initial contract????

I'm possitive that someone in the commercial dept at VP will know the answer [but with the delay in the new kit launch perhaps the club just don't want to say]

Just my thoughts

Mark

Hey, I cant wait for the next question on shirts.

If, on the day that Houllier eventually starts work, the shirts land at Villa Village, which will be the first to be announced on facebook? Will Houllier's first job be to stretch the NEW top or will he have too much work to catch up on? Will his shirt have Houllier on, or GH? Will it have a number?
Will Houllier be wearing the

The first person to stretch the new shirt will have been Richard Dunne.

General,

I've just made up a rumour that Houllier is responsible for the hold-up in the shirt deliveries as he wants to be the first in the queue. As such, the new replica tops will be delivered direct to his office and everyone has to go there instead of the Villa shop so he can say 'ner, ner, ner-ner, ner'.

Care to make a comment for the Evening Mail's front page?
