I find it hard to belive Randy & co. aren't trying to hammer out a deal to get him here asap, it's the only thing that makes sense. It's been a pretty depressing summer all round, they must want it over as much as we do.

So much for the cliche that contracts in football aren't worth anything - it seems this is the only one that is worth something!

The FFF must have a legal team second to no other in the Western footballing world.

Can someone provide a one paragraph summary of where we are at the moment

Houlier has signed - official, oui?

He's still under contract at FFF? when is he released from that?

Has any statement been offically released by Villa to clarify things?

I'm not sure now what's official and what is speculation.

I'm all confused

When this is all sorted, I think the Villa need to look at how they communicate with their fans - and I don't mean General K posting unofficial stuff on fans' sites, interesting as his posts may be.

His posts are interesting? No they are misleading. To the point that we hear 'We hear you', 'These things take time you know', 'Stop saying anything that I may think is bad about Randy'. What are we being told? Really?

Yes, I agree that when little admin errors, or problems crop up he is a useful go-between, but that's it. I didn't like the way that we were used to put out press releases, and I don't like the way the club has gone about its business this summer.

Yes, MON dropped us in the shit, but maybe the way we're all scratching our heads as to what the flying feck is going on, is what forced him to walk. He has kept a dignified silence thus far whilst the General implied that he thought he was bigger than the club and had a go.

I don't know. I still think Randy has enough credit to be very much in the black with regards his standing. But, and I've tried to not say this, if the old regime had have done anything like this they (he) would have been hung, drawn, and quartered.

Maybe the General doesn't understand the hurt of being close to something to see it being friottered away. Over the past 20 years or so we've gone from being close, to flirting with relegation, to being close, to looking nervously over our shoulder, to being close again. Now what? We're definitely looking over our shoulder at the moment.

From what I understand he'll be in contact very much with Kevin this week, and will oversee the Bolton game and will be in the dugout for Wolves?

Thanks

I'm not sure what "overseeing" means though. When does his honeymoon period begin?

The fact that it's not clear really does highlight how piss poorly this has been handled by us.

And before anyone reminds me that O'Neill left us in the  lurch5 days before the season started.....

I'm even getting piss-taking emails from Boro fans now, for chrissakes

The problem we have is that we are coasting now and it cannot continue. We desperately need the new manager in so he can stamp his authority on the team and give it some direction.

Should have been 3 well earned points in the bag last night, which could make all the difference at the end of the season, and you lot know it. Sure there are lots more games to come. But at the end of every season I always look back at games like last night and say "if only", it usually results in us just missing out on Europe, or the Champions fucking League.

Surely if the FFF was offered a bit money they would have let him be in place already. This is the first time I can remember a Premier League club having to wait for someone to work time before they started. He is only an official anyway. Supposedly he was at some award ceremony last night. The mind boggles.

Entrepreneurs from "the chemical" cough , cough industry?

Formby seems to be attracting the "Nouveau Riche" from the "recreation industry" - myself excepted of course
