Well, as DTN of the FFF, Houillier was on a monthly gross salary of €26,345 (£21 825)...

Maybe, just maybe the reason Houllier has been sold the job is the (reported) £8m three year contract - nice little retirement fund that.

Sorry but cynicism comes with age !!

I doubt he would have done it for free.

Or we could have got Phil Brown or Curbishley on a £3m three year contract.  If you want the best, you have to pay for it.

Do you expect him to give up an easy job in France to take on a mid table club in crisis in the Prem, thanks to the previous manager, and do it for free then ?

Out of interest, if the £8m figure for Houlier's wages is correct ( I honestly have no idea whether it is), how does this comnpare with other Premiership manager?

any idea?

And what was O'Neill on? anyone know?

Fuck knows, but I'd like some if it, if it makes you crazy enough to make some of the decisions he did.

I seem to remember a figure of £3m a year being bandied about.

That being the case, they have increased the wage bill this summer rather than reduce it as planned.

The post overleaf said £8m over 3 years, so a saving over O'Neill's reported £3m p.a.

He was on 11 million euros at Inter and now on 13 million at Real.

The £8m figure has come from an article in The Mirror, the same article states that MON was on 'over £2m a year' and that Le Gez is the highest paid Villa employee ever. A statement which is completely contradicted by the box on the right hand side of the article which states that they have found out that Ash has signed a contract worth £65k a week, or £3.38m a year which equates to an awful lot more over three years than £8m.

The Mirror really is a crock of shit.

I hope Houllier sends Warnock to Coventry again.
