Sounds as though Randy has given him very  low objectives...like  "Please  just keep  us in the PL"

How do you work that one out?

Well read his  summing up of the task

"most interesting, in terms of the work environment, its working conditions"

Does not sound to me as his objectives have been set as "challenging"

This place is chock full of hysterical, repetitive little schoolgirls at the moment, isn't it? If the club had announced that they'd found their man but weren't revealing his name until he'd finalised his current commitments, half of you would be up in arms demanding his name. So what if if can't start for a few weeks? No-one dies. We're 4th in the league and are facing stoke. Man the fuck up and stop acting like spoilt little brats. We've got a good manager coming in, we've good players, a fantastic chairman, we're not going to be relegate, we're not  facing extinction (although you'd think so judging by the complete over-reaction by some)  and, so far as I can tell, the future's still pretty bright.

So he's not here for Stoke and not in the dugout for Bolton.

What a shambles the recruitment of the new manager has been. (Even though he still isn't our manager)

No new players when we needed to strengthen either because of the lack of manager. Yes of course O'Neill is to blame for walking out, but a month later we'll still have Kevin Mac in the spotlight - Not good enough

I must say I agree with Troy. There is a lot of negativity on the threads.

Our manager left us five days before the season started and to be fourth after three games and with the appointment of a new manager with a proven pedigree at the very top level in the game there are many reasons to be cheerful.

Let's get behind the club and help make this season as good as any of the MON era.

I was thinking this myself, its like a version of Big Brother but with even more crazy hysterical drama queens than they ever had.

What an absolute farce this whole situation has become. While O'Neill obviously made things as difficult as possible, the way the board has gone about replacing him has been laughably amateur.  If it had been Sullivan and Gold we'd be laughing our socks off at them.

It gives me no pleasure to say that I couldn't agree more, holding a press conference to sort of announce your new manager may be starting sometime in the future strikes me of a course of action the Bhatti Brothers would have turned away from.

I expected a lot more.

Lerner - " Erm Kev, have you got a moment?"

KMac - " You`ll have to be quick, I have to take the Reserves to their next game"

Lerner - "There`s been a change of plan - Edith the tea lady will have to do that - you have to look after the first team"

KMac - "Can`t Houllier`s assistant do that?"

Lerner -"There`s been a technical hitch - Gerard and his team are, erm, shall we say unavailable"

KMac - " So just when will they be here?"

Lerner - " Erm, soon"

KMac- " How soon?"

Lerner - " Soonish"

KMac - "You don`t know do you?"

Lerner - " No, but it will happen because he has said he wants to join us although we are not as big as Liverpool , Lyon, Spurs, Everton, etc"

KMac - "We are in a pickle aren`t we Mr Lerner"

Lerner - " Erm yes we are Kevin"

KMac - " I will do it for a shortwhile but I want a payrise"

Lerner - "You know we can`t afford that Kevin"

KMac - " Well Mr Lerner - I was good enough, then I wasn`t  and  now I am again - I tell you what ...I `ll speak with Edith

Lerner - to secretary - "Have we still got Martin`s number - if not get me Brain Rix`s agent"  ;)

Lerner played by Richard Marner

KMac by Kenneth Connor

Edith by Carmen Silvera.

And where does it say "Avoid relegation"? The way some are eager to put negatives into every word and every situation is beyond me.

Agree with the others here - I just can't believe the negativity that is being shown.

We all accept the position that MON left the club/board in but as far as I am aware they have acted with dignity and professionalism.  I also believe that shone through with GH's press conference yesterday, the things he was saying, to my mind, made us look a top class club in the manner it conducts itself.

Yes, we could have gone down the road of wheeling and dealing and doing deals behind peoples backs and forcing issues by putting people in situations they did not wish to be in but we have shown dignity and respect to all parties and I think the board and GH should be applauded for that.

I also thought he came across very well, relaxed and confident.  Liked the bit when he asked Pete Colley if it was just him who was going to ask the questions.

Sky do that all the time at press conferences. Because they take it out live they try to bully the people hosting it to give them pole position, tell them what time they want it to begin and end, and then act as if it's some kind of Sky exclusive.

I did an England presser last week, the first one I've done for a couple of years, and it was a farce. It wasn't even a Sky game and their reporter sat front and centre asking a list of pre-agreed questions. As soon as he'd finished Fabio stood up and walked out.

The FA are in Sky's pocket for some reason, I don't know why. So I'm glad Gerard realises it's not just Sky who will be reporting on the Villa.
