I am pleased with the appointment, I liked the way the scouses played while Gerard was there.  As for taking time with the appointment, well in my opinion that is just being professional; rather than snapping up the first option you wait for someone that can deliver.

A world where accuracy is prefered to bluster; I leave the latter to those better practiced.

You can't get more accurate that the total number of points. It's a fact. Four clubs have got more points than us during the Premier League's history. We are therefore its fifth-most successful club and no manner of disinformation and the sort of silly little digs at which you're an expert can disguise the fact.

We're more succesful in the Premier League than Blackburn are we? Does winning it not count these days compared to amassing points over 20 years?

As I tried to explain to you above, total number of points is only valid if everyone has played the same number of games. It's like being 2 points clear at the top of the league when everyone has got 10 games in hand.

And what is "wonderful world of Smith" if it isn't a silly little dig?

I'm learning from the master. Does that mean Liverpool aren't the most successful club of all time because they've been in the top division longer than Wigan? While you're figuring that out, tell me how many clubs you think have been better than us since 1992.

Should it not be judged on prize money earned, rather than on points gained..
Surely that would be how a club would gauge its success?

I'm with Chris on this one. This 'total points' table is often mentioned on here. Just because we have accumulated the 5th highest number of points since 1992 doesn't mean we are more likely to finish there than any of the other chasing pack teams. We have only finished 5th or higher 3 times since 1992. Our average place is 8th over the last 18 seasons.

In my view we have been more than likely to finish behind one or two of the less consistent teams (Newcastle, Leeds, Blackburn; now Everton, Spurs or Man City) every season.

It's like saying that Barichello is a better formula 1 driver than Senna was as he has more career points or that Fredericks was a better sprinter than Bolt as he has 4 Olympic silvers compared to 2 golds (so far).

We have made decent progress under Randy Lerner and MON in the last 4 seasons. Considering the transition period if Houllier can get us to 7th and a good cup run I would be happy this season as long as we get better football and further progress next year. Which I think is what Houllier is trying to say.

Is 'The wonderful world of Smith' a new theme park?
What's in it, I might give it a go.

Still confusion whos going to be No. 2 ..

G-Hou wasnt at BH yesterday..

and there is a couple of players who are unhappy with G-Hou,  as I said last night ' fook em, they are well payed to play for this massive club '   I suppose I had a few beers when I said that,  and there is always going to be a few unhappy players in every squad when a new manager comes in as maybe they had it too safe.....

I know that the question wasn't directed at me, but I would say that Manew, Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Blackburn have done better than us in the league in the last 18 years.

I agree with this. I'm prepared to give Houllier time to get rid of dead wood and bring some exciting new foreign players in. I just felt over the last year that we were starting to go stale again.
