It is obvious St. Martin can do no wrong in Collymores eyes.

We've had a dozen or more Collymore threads over the years. Is this really the time - or more pertinently - the place for another?

It is obvious St. Martin can do no wrong in Collymores eyes.

I heard him interview MON once, and he did that cringeworthy thing of still referring to him as "gafffer" at the end of every sentence.

I heard Jason Cundy do the same thing on TalkSport the other week, too, whilst interviewing George Burley, except he managed to drop "gaffer" into the middle of sentences, too.

I like Collymore, in that he's not afraid to say what he thinks, and he is a Villa fan. However, all the time he is talking, there is a big sign in front of my eyes flashing the illuminated phrase "HE'S A TWAT" on and off.

Stan Collymore was chiefly responsible for the departure of the man who the Villa job meant more to than any other manager in history. In that context 'twat' is mild.

Out of curiosity, did Collymore mention who he thought should have the manager's job, or was he too busy defending MON to say?

Welcome Gerard

Personaly, I wonder if we possibly may have employed an out of favour but very competant manager, a good appointment considering the other options.
Wouldnt surprise me if Houliers stock rises back to the level that made him the manager liverpool valued in his early days. He's a champions league manager (or has been), and to be honest would we attract a manager of that calibre/experience if they were at the top of their managerial game? Could be a great appointment by Randy.

I'm feeling really positive about this appointment.Houllier is a winner and obviously still feels he has a point to prove despite his previous health issues I've got a really good feeling about this  :)

Exactly and when we look at Villa greats that carry that feeling about the club and proved it through thier actions then sadly stan will be a long way down the league table and he that walked on water will be very close to if not at the top

Interesting point, that. I also think that, if Houllier had turned up at, say, Juventus or Atletico Madrid or Munich or the like, I wouldn't have been surprised. From that point of view (and it's not the most important thing, to my mind), he is a 'big name' manager.

I want to be optimistic, honestly.

So lets just say:

Gerard, if you make Trevor Francis blub like a fuckin two year old baby whats fell off his fuckin bike, twice more this year, then you're alright by me.

Good Luck
