I loved the quote attributed to Colleen in the Sun yesterday, which was via a 'family friend', that when Wayne offered to pull out of the Switzerland game to try and salvage his marriage she said "just go and play football".

Cheating on your wife or husband is a bad thing. However, every day there will be solicitors, bin men, teachers, bus drivers, hairdressers and even the unemployed doing exactly that. This is nothing to do with him being a footballer and everything to do with him being a human being and subject to the weaknesses that any of us can be prone to. Why anyone, outside of their immediate family and friends, cares is something I'm struggling to understand.

Coca Cola are paying him £600k per year, Nike are throwing £1m per year at him. If they want to save a few quid they could always sponsor the nearest binman, teacher or bus driver.

They're paying that kind of money because it's Wayne Rooney and If I'm forced to see his fat face on every billboard then the least I deserve is to get some juicy gossip about him knocking off tarts at a grand a chuck so I can laugh at him.

I love it. Nike, Coca-Cola, Rooney.

Maybe he should be the next Gillette poster boy?

It's rubbish. Colleen would of known about him cheating weeks ago thats for certain. The legal attempts to stop the story spilling out had failed a while ago.The issue was when the media released the story.

Not neccesarily. Wayne Bridge only found out about the terry stuff when he was asked for quotes before the story broke. Wayne could easily have got his lawyers on the case without her knowing about it and only when the papers had the story tied down and virtually ready to print might she have known.

Real Madrid president Florentino monitoring Rooney Man Utd situation

READ MORE NEWS ON: Cristiano Ronaldo, Florentino Perez, Jose Mourinho, Manchester United, Real Madrid, Wayne Rooney
Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is monitoring Wayne Rooney's situation at Manchester United.

The scandal that has hit Rooney's family has alerted the interest of Perez, who has also welcomed reports that new contract talks with United have stalled.

El Mundo Deportivo and Sport say Perez is convinced Rooney will seek an escape from England should the media storm not die down in the coming days.

Jose Mourinho has already confessed Rooney is the one player in the world he would love to work with, while the striker's former United teammate Cristiano Ronaldo has already urged the England ace to join him in Madrid.

Rooney's current deal has less than two years to run.

Tribal football but the Spanish sites they mention do indeed say what they say.

I think it would be good for the national team if a few more players played abroad, not that I really care either way.

She's not picky either, Titus Bramble got it for nothing! Ha ha! Rooney must be gutted, I bet he always thought, "At least I'm better looking than Titus Bramble" but he isn't! He's 120% worse looking.

The press are trying to destroy him. The extra money is for confidentiality quite obviously.

Unbelievable!
I find all that completely believable. What I find more incredible is Rohan Ricketts' career path.

Back to Rooney... they were discussing the England game on Talk Shite this evening and whichever moron was 'presenting' at the time was basically praising Rooney and his ability to put all his off-the-field problems behind him and play well. Completely ignoring the massive elephant in the room that would be all the superinjunction shenanigans attempting to keep this stuff out of the news was precisely why his performances in the World Cup were so amazingly abject. Seems strange that this wasn't raised, but of course, silly me, it's back to build England up time again already.
