So, basically, he's been told he gets first shout at the job before they even interview anyone else.

It looks like we've made up our minds, and we seem to think we've got all the time in the world - waiting till after the Everton game for the two week break?

Not necessarily. To me that looks like Randy has told him "get the Everton game out of the way and we'll talk about whether you want the job or not". No harm in that, in fact it's a reasonable courtesy to pay him, to interview him first.

It doesn't suggest to me that it's KM's if he wants it - there are clearly plenty of other candidates.

After reading that interview, I'm coming to the conclusion that K-Mac may have the ability, but he doesn't have the passion and desire to be a top flight manager!

Completely out of context.

It;s this bit really:-

"I'm undecided on whether I would like to be considered for an interview"

A man with passion and desire for the job wouldn't be sitting there wonderign if he wants to be interviewed or not, he'd be putting himself right in the frame, even if that were just behind the scenes with Randy.

I agree we could do worse and a year to see what he can do if no top choice is available isn't a bad idea, but this to me does not read like the comment of a budding Ferguson or Mourinho.

I'd play Carew over emile everyday, a shite carew will score at least 10 goals a season

And would also contribute to more results like last Sundays and the game against Chelsea last March.

why do we have to get the Everton game "out of the way",We can still interview potential managers while Kev Mac minds the shop! It all smacks of small mindedness to me and a lack of Kev Mac is our only plan A and he will do.Why not interview someone else and let them impress you so your in a better position come Sunday 6pm!

Because they're not ready?

They seem to be making great play of the fact that we have the two week break coming up - maybe they've just decided that "applicants by August 31st". Doesn't sound unreasonable. Presumably other potential candidates will have games tonight / at the weekend too.

One thing that is clear is that they aren't going to be rushed by the closing of the transfer window, so why rush at all?

Doesn't add up does it paulie. Why keep the bloke hanging on unless he's working to an agreed policy and already has his future mapped out.
Does happen.

I don't want Kev Mac as manager,he is too unassuming,he won't upset people and he's not ruthless and determined at all,the total opposite of Mourinho.

It's like K-Mac is taking the managers job for a test drive to see if he likes the job and the job likes him.
I suppose he is waiting to see do his tactics work, if all the games he managed ended up like the West Ham game, he would definitely be wanting the job, however if all the games end up like Newcastle, he would definitely not want the job.
It's probably fair to give him the run of games to see what the results look like, at the moment, i would say the results point to someone else gettig the job, after 2 more games/results/performances it may look different.

Not ready? They've had two weeks already.

I understand if it takes longer because targets are in jobs, but they're going to be in jobs in two weeks time, that's not going to change.

Waiting what will be almost four weeks from the resignation of the manager to see if the caretaker manager even fancies interviewing for the job - let alone if he wants to take it - before speaking to other candidates, seeing the transfer window close in the meantime, in a period when we've just had a reminder of how things can go wrong by being tonked 6-0 by a championship side .... to be entirely honest, that strikes me as extremely half arsed.

I'd also have grave misgivings about the durability of someone who is taking this long to decide whether he even wants to apply, but that's another issue.

He crashed on his test drive by playing Carew,Young,Ireland,Albrighton,Downing and a new Petrov with a license to bomb forward, also when he played Heskey on the right wing.

We can't really appoint someone on the basis of two or three games as manager, though. Last week was a great reminder of the folly of that - West Ham, great, Newcastle beyond awful.

It has to be done on what he has done in the game before the last few weeks as well.

If the clubs cash saving policy is to put faith in the youth then KM is the obvious choice.
It also shows a complete U turn and plays into the Mon exit theorists and is an extremely naive and regressive move. Should it happen of course.

What do you think might be the reasoning behind leaving it until next week to make an appointment?
