So, basically, he's been told he gets first shout at the job before they even interview anyone else.It looks like we've made up our minds, and we seem to think we've got all the time in the world - waiting till after the Everton game for the two week break?

To me that looks like Randy has told him "get the Everton game out of the way and we'll talk about whether you want the job or not". No harm in that, in fact it's a reasonable courtesy to pay him, to interview him first. It doesn't suggest to me that it's KM's if he wants it - there are clearly plenty of other candidates.

I'd play Carew over emile everyday, a shite carew will score at least 10 goals a season

Why wait until KM decides if he even wants to apply for it?
Because they're not ready? They seem to be making great play of the fact that we have the two week break coming up - maybe they've just decided that "applicants by August 31st". Doesn't sound unreasonable. Presumably other potential candidates will have games tonight / at the weekend too.One thing that is clear is that they aren't going to be rushed by the closing of the transfer window, so why rush at all?
It's like K-Mac is taking the managers job for a test drive to see if he likes the job and the job likes him.I suppose he is waiting to see do his tactics work, if all the games he managed ended up like the West Ham game, he would definitely be wanting the job, however if all the games end up like Newcastle, he would definitely not want the job. It's probably fair to give him the run of games to see what the results look like, at the moment, i would say the results point to someone else gettig the job, after 2 more games/results/performances it may look different.

They've had two weeks already. I understand if it takes longer because targets are in jobs, but they're going to be in jobs in two weeks time, that's not going to change.Waiting what will be almost four weeks from the resignation of the manager to see if the caretaker manager even fancies interviewing for the job - let alone if he wants to take it - before speaking to other candidates, seeing the transfer window close in the meantime, in a period when we've just had a reminder of how things can go wrong by being tonked 6-0 by a championship side .... to be entirely honest, that strikes me as extremely half arsed.I'd also have grave misgivings about the durability of someone who is taking this long to decide whether he even wants to apply, but that's another issue.
