Remember the farcical situation at Liverpool when Houllier joined and Roy Evans was kept on as joint manager. Nobody knew who was in charge until Roy left "by mutual consent".

Why's that? From our shortlist; ruling out Curbishley and Macdonald with 99% certainty, we haven't exactly got many options left with Eriksson and Houllier.

I know the General and board have told us to be patient telling us they want to get ''the right man'' instead of rushing into any hasty decisions, but after 3 weeks of deliberations of deciding who should be our next manager I would of expected a better shortlist.

I think there is only winner out of the 4 managers on the shortlist, and that is Houllier and to be fair, out of those 4 managers, Houllier would be the best pick in my opinion so we can't exactly complain the board have got the new appointment really wrong i.e. appointing someone like Bradley or Curbishley.

I can see your logic Chico but somehow we need to get the whole club pulling in the same direction.  I fear that if there is a Houllier and X, Y, Z coaching team dealing with the first team and a K-Mac / Cowans team dealing with reserves and youth then there is a clear split (a bit like with MON).

Kev's worked with every manager for the past 15 years so I would hope he could work with Gezza.

Good point.  I suppose I was just hoping for a bit more than that.  Something like what Klinsmann introduced to Germany pre-2006 or an "Ajax way" where all the teams from the babies upwards are trained to play a certain formation.

I fear the first thing Houllier will do is buy a whole bunch of foreign players to ensure immediate results and the reserves and youth team will as a result be under-used.

Sorry old shoe, but i don't share your appraisal of Houllier, and don't fancy him as our new manager. Sure, there are worse, but i would be underwhelmed. Can't really say any more than that, perhaps it's a personal gut reaction.

I would certainly have preferred Sven but according to virtually every source Sven and curbs are not now in the equation- it's houllier or kmac, and in that case I pray it's houllier.
