the biggest problem with Curbishley, is that he is a bit boring, and we are looking for someone to get excited about, his appointment wont do anything for ticket sales, season or othrewise.but that aside his record at Charlton was very good, and at west ham i believe he was under virtual impossible circumstances,he plays passing football, and is known to favour attack minded teams rather than defensive teams as Sven, Houlier,Moyes, do.so the football would be a lot different than that under MONso in terms of the football he might bring ,its not by any means a dissaster, but in terms of marketability it ishe just wont get the time or patience from the fans to make a mistake, everything he touches from the start will have to be sucsesfull, just to get the fans on his side,, he wont be allowed a Marlon Harewood moment.i find it dificult to see it working not so much on the pitch, but in the stands

People seem to be going more for bigger names like Sven, Houllier or Klinsmann. I have real doubts about all three of those.I'd hope for better than Curbishley but I think his record deserves a bit more respect than people are giving him

Chris , regarding beckham on loan , im thinking of the financial spin off for the club and publicity , yes he may play a few games but it would be worthwhile.sven when talking in the fake sheikh incident said he could bring beckham here, so its a relevant point. i know time has moved on but milan have said they wont take him this season and west ham have expressed an interest , if sven came maybe he would.Ultimately the main thing is that i want sven to get the job , i said that last year and unlike you i think he would be a huge upgrade on o neill. why do you say its not realistic , if west ham under grant can go for him on a short term loan what makes you think he wouldnt come to villa under sven?

He's just been pissing about taking the money for the last few years. It's Mrs Posh Spice I think is the barmy option.
Playing devils advocate –I wouldn’t be against Sven but people listing his achievements really doesn’t mean a great deal as the most noticeable ones were achieved when Jack the Ripper was a lad, football has moved on since then. Could he do it now on possibly a limited budget that remains to be seen. He’s certainly got the contacts to find a hidden gem that’s for sure.
