I'm amazed at the negative comments on here about Curbishley. His position at West Ham was untenable prior to that he did a cracking job at Charlton, consistently bought players on and almost got them into Europe a couple of times on a shoestring. He has also played for Villa - alright so he played for the dog shit as well but you can't have it all. Of the people being touted so far, who have prem experience and who are available I think he's about the best candidate.

Go back 12 months ago and think 'who is likely to be the best candidate for the job if MON were to go', I'll bet that Curbishley wouldn't be in the top 20, what has he done in the last year to be the right one now, other than be available immediately?

I'm sorry but the thought of us shortlisting - let alone employing - Alan 'Charisma' Curbishley is giving me the shits.  He may have done well at Charlton but fell flat on his arse at West Ham, a smaller club than Villa.  He's also been watching Jeremy Kyle for the last two years - if he's so good why haven't any other Prem clubs looked at him? 

He is nowhere near good enough to manage Villa for one game, let alone the future and if we get him in I will honestly consider going down there again.  Randy, if you're reading this or getting messages fed back, don't you bloody well dare.

He's managed to be third bottom in the poll on this page, and that is a poll started at a time when we had found ourselves unexpectedly forced to find a manager.

This would be a horrible, horrible mistake.

Having said that, I've just lumped 30 quid on with Laddies @ 16/1, just in case.

Interviews have finished- they were conducted in London  over last 3 days and randy is heading back to brum tonight- curbs was interviewed , now it's a question of choosing new Manager- hopefully we may hear tomorrow- mirror website confirming interviews at a London hotel.
