We might have to bite the bullet for now and have Kev. If there isnt anyone out there that's decent / or wants it.

Kev till xmas wouldn't be so bad would it?... we won 2 out of 4, 2 out of 3 if you ignore europe  >:(

we still have a 100% record. You just have to choose which results to ignore

If Kevin Mac gets the job, does it mean Tony Mac will be his assistant? So we will need to employ two other people to replace them, with Sid staying where he is?

With the reserves and youth being sucessful this is another big and important decision to be made.

99% of times You get what you pay for.

I fear for our season if KevMac is appointed.

I fear for our CLUB if KMac is appointed.  The lowest profile manager we could possibly get short of me getting the job.  Nobody will want to come to us in Jan if he is at the helm and players like Ash and Gabby, despite there supposedly good relationship with him, will be looking around at other clubs with proper managers and we could easily lose both of them when we are languishing in the lower reaches of the table come Christmas.  This would be a far bigger disaster than losing Milner and it's in our own hands.  Don't do it Randy, I beg you!!

If there is no one available, there is not a lot else the board can do.

Do what other clubs do - "make" them available. Offer the kind of money that can't be turned down, if we know who we want. Keep on at the wanted man until we get him.

If we're about "so, we can't speak to him? Oh, ok" and walking away, then we deserve to end up with a Curbishley or a Megson.

kmac is not ideal, but I'm sure he'd take the job on the understanding that it is only for the medium term, i.e. this season...yes it maybe a season of mediocrity, but that's better than seasons  of mediocrity under the wrong manager...
THink a season of Kmac would be a lot better than getting a compromise candidate on a long deal..

Don't panic Randy!

What I can't understand is, if they are convinced of Macdonalds ability, then why not (especially now he has declared his interest) just appoint him without going through the charade of interviews?

Absolutely, and the relegation that could very easily come with it.

I don't see why the club would want a season of mediocrity. We need to build on the foundations O'Neill has laid down and get the right man in to keep the momentum going. Mediocrity means almost certainly losing your best players.

I agree with Paulie - other clubs go out there and get what they want. We need to do the same if we are serious about competing at the top end of the table.

...............even if it gets Randy a name in some parlances for being aggressive.

It's not 'aggressive' - it's business.

I hope Randy isn't bottling this.

I hope he remembers how much he's invested in the club and therefore how much needs protecting.

I’m sure Lerner knows how to conduct himself in business acquisitions. I very much doubt that he’s the naive shrinking violet that he’s been labelled by some.

Lerner is an astute business man and there is no way having invested millions in Villa over a four year period that he will effectively end our challenge by having "Mac" as manager. But cannot believe he has not added a couple of players on advice from his serious connections and possibly Mac ..............

the only peole i see bottling it, our those on who want action now, no matter what the outcome.

we dont know whats happening behind the scenes, we are just speculating, need a bit of patience, and a bit of bottle to see it through, i think randy's got that, unlike many on here

We've finished 6th for 3 seasons running with a guy in charge who apparently alienated half the playing squad, played players out of position, didn't have a passport and couldn't or wouldn't  buy a decent striker, surely anyone could do the job, or was MON deep down quite a good manager.

Just on BBC Transfer Deadline Page

artillery_john-TW14 on 606: "Martin O'Neill is being brought in to replace the outbound David Moyes at Everton. Moyes will make Mikel Arteta his first signing as the new Aston Villa boss."
