If it is Sven I'd rather a 3 yr deal than one year - give him a fair crack at it rather a stop gap role.

It's pretty fair to say that nobody knows anything except that K Mac has applied. However I think we can make a few assumptions: firstly, it won't be Moyes, that's just madness; secondly, it won't be K Mac unless there really is no candidate who impresses; finally, it won't be Hughes, how would we do that, just casually spend about £6-8m on a manager who's just signed a contract with a new club? Hardly our style.
Agree with that, Monty. There's not a great deal left out there and I'm getting a horrible feeling we could end up with Sven.

Subsequent results would suggest he did as well as anyone could with what he had to work with.

@mini_beest I doubt anybody will come in. Sidwell (baggies), Davies (Blackpool), Beye (hull) possible outs on loan.

Fingers x'd on these 3.

As for KevMac, I will be tremendously disappointed if he's appointed, we need profile and we need a name, and that name really should not have the initials SJE.

I wonder if Sven will check the room for hidden cameras when he gets the news Villa want to speak with him?

I think K-Mac's biggest asset is also his biggest problem.
He's had to (for want of a better phrase) put his arm around a lot of MON-rejects and get them to perform for him. The players seem to really like him. And that's a problem because you can't have a 'mate' as a boss.

which does raise the issue of him continuing to pick his favourites no matter how shit they were...

Seriously?

You think our squad can afford to lose 3 players with no fresh faces coming in? A couple of injuries and suspensions and we'd be fucked.

The reason some of the players make positive noises about Macdonald is that he represents continuity for them. They don't have to work as hard prove themselves to a new manager with all the uncertainty that goes with it. If I was Lerner, the moment I heard those comments would be the moment I ruled him out.

If I were Lerner, I would see the prevarication from KM over whether he actually wants to even apply for the job as a factor to rule him out. KM is entirely within his rights to be uncertain as to whether he wants it, but personally, I'd look away from someone who was having to convince himself.

After the recent bold statements about getting it right, appointing KM after the transfer window has slammed shut would be a truly uninspired move.
