Sean custis just said on sky he thinks moyes may now fancy the villa job after all- I don't think whoever gets it will get us into the top 4 - to achieve that would need huge investmest- top 6 much more realistic aim.

To be honest I'd take a season of changing our style to something more convincing and exciting plus blooding some more youngsters and laying the foundations to a new era under whoever gets the job.
Anything else would be a substantial bonus.

I dont think it will be Moyes and I'm not even sure I like him but personality aside, he'd thrive under Lerner I think.

My thoughts to the letter...first paragraph and second.
He's been at Everton for some time now and, given their ups and downs, you'd have to conclude that he has the ability to get on with his boss.

I'd be surprised if we poached a manager from another PL team.  Doesn't seem Randy's style, after he complained about Man City's ungentlemanly conduct.  I find it hard to believe any PL club will willingly let a manager go at this stage of the season.

I think Randy would approach another club about their manager and if he was told no that would be that whereas City would just keep bullying. That's the difference.
When you want to buy a player unless they are out of contract you are approaching a club about one of their staff so a manager shouldn't really be too much different, ethically.

So even before we know who the manager is, there are people who are predicting he won't succeed already, Jesus wept!

That's a very optimistic prediction for East19!

I logged in before going to bed and after reading all these posts about Moyes I probably won't sleep.

Moyes to villa would be sensational.

It isn't going to happen. Sweet dreams.

is this the same as The General isnt the real General, when he first came on the site,
and Away fans will never be put into the DE stand ?

'IF' we were chasing managers at other PL clubs, I would rather we went for Redknap than Moyes...(I know, I know....I'll wash my mouth out.....but I think he would be a massive step up on Moyes).

On the way into work Talksport were saying it's Kevin's if he wants it.  I think the truth is none of these media outlets have any idea who's going to get it, so they're just guessing like the rest of us and trying to dress it up as insider knowledge.

To coin a phrase: You can get a man out of London but you can't ... whatever.

No, it's the same as a statement that we got almost word for word two days before everyone else.

i fully accept that dave , but what if moyes had changed his mind and made villa aware of his interest yesterday? if that happened im sure we would look at him favourably- we know he didnt want the job , but what if he now does due to everton selling rodwell?

not saying its true but if?

saying a new manager wont get us to 4th is realistic with the players at his disposal , 6th is realistic , not being depressing saying that , but we must give substantial investmest to any manager coming in if we wish to achieve 4th place.
