Yeah, Pellegrini speaks English I think. I saw Liverpool fans saying recently he did before Hodgson got it.

It's not going to be Jol then....

Aston Villa's search for a new manager rumbles on, but it won't include Ajax boss Martin Jol, who has ruled himself out of a move.

The former Spurs boss, who snubbed a move to Fulham last month, told Dutch paper Algemeen Dagblad that he wanted to stay as Ajax boss and lead them to the Dutch title.

"I want to play in the Champions League with Ajax and become champions of the Netherlands. So Villa have to wait therefore," he said.

Although Jol does seem to contradict himself in the press on a regular basis

No thanks, Muttley.

Just give the job to MacDonald. The players seem to want him, the chairman seems to want him... he might not want it but that wold be my choice unless we could get a really top manager.Even then, I like the idea of appointing somebody complete engarined into our culture and familiar with squad an club top to bottom already. If he makes a Horlicks of it, then we look for somebody else anyway. I have the feeling he wouldn't however.

Mazrim endorses K Mac and Budweisser, the king of Beers. When was your beer born?

It is a big jump from being a decent coach to being a good manager, with all the extra shit they have to do, though.

I think it'd be a bad move.

Agreed Paulie.

You need a certain amount of ambition/ bloody mindedness to survive the inevitable barbs after a bad result or poor sequence of results. If he's not sure that he wants the hassle he's probably best of out of it.

We can't play West Ham every week unfortunately.

I agree, he's done well so far but I doubt he'll want it and I'm not sure I like him to get it unless he's absolutely 100% sure it's what he wants to do.

Yes I do wonder. I also wonder if he's ever considered he'd be in such a position as this. Maybe he's chewing it over, which is fair enough.
I do think Randy would be in favour, judging by what he said on Saturday. I like the left field element too. Here's this big job with applications flying in (you'd think) from established "names" and we go and appoint somebody from the bootroom, so to speak.

We've done it before of course, with Gregory, and I it had a dramatic impact in the first instance. I think K Mac would make a better job of it. I also dont care if somebody is media savvy or not so long as he knows and understands how to make a team play good football.
If this team know him, respect him and more importantly want to play the type of football we saw on Saturday for him, maybe we should allow them to.
I hope he says yes and gives it a shot, if offered.

The fact that Kev Mac Has spent the last 15 years being a coach rather than take on the full responsibility of manager suggests to me he probably does not want the job, I would have thought if he had any interest in management he would have tried it by now.

Yup, that's my ideal outcome. Keep him coaching but with the first team. As Petrov said, he's got his own ideas on how he wants us to play.
If he takes the Manager's job, he'll more than likely be out on his arse in three years time.

I can't help but think that if Kev Mac wanted to be a manager he'd have got a job by now.

Or it could be they never had any intention of offering it him, but are waiting for the Milner money to tempt a new bloke with a signing on fee and transfer kitty.

Or maybe MacDonald thinks, not unreasonably, that he has a well-paid job for life as reserve boss but could easily be out of a job in six months if he becomes manager - why risk it?
