I'd take McGleish just to annoy the Sty. Don't think he'd do much good for us mind, but I'd still get him in to fuck them off!  :P

Sack him in 3 months and get Hiddink.

My mindset is shifting from those managers whom I would accept, even if not ideal ( sven/jol)

and then there are those with disaster stamped all over them ( Bradley/ Southgate).

Rijkaard still tops my list.

I think Southgate might make a good manager some day.

However, I'd much prefer him to take over at Villa on that day than now. I'd prefer not to have someone who is unproven.

Ah. Let me enlighten you into a certain facet of McLeish's personality. Managed Motherwell; Walked out to manage Hibs; Walked out to manager Rangers. Managed Scotland; Walked out to manager Blues.

Every time he gets offered a bigger job he's off so quick you don't even notice the door move.

And Villa is not a bigger job than Blues then?

Does Mourinho not quit for other jobs? Coppell quits because he can't handle the pressure different scenario

I fear it wont make much difference though...the owner no longer believes in us getting in the top 4.

Rubbish. Not wanting to pay big wages to players who aren't playing is not a signal Randy has no ambition to finish in the top 4 any more.

The hierarchy of the club have gone from saying that they would pay 20 (or was it 30) million for a player if he was the right one to Randy's statement
about where our new level is.

How do you get that from this:

Quote
Finally, there have been no changes in our approach to building the club, aiming always to be as competitive as possible given our size and resources.

The watchword has always been sustainable growth, with RL making it clear we wouldn't go the route of Chelsea (or more recently Citeh).

Even without the new UEFA regulations coming in, a wage bill accounting for 85% of total income would have set alarm bells ringing. We have very little choice but to get our house in order on that one. It doesn't automatically mean the drawbridge has come up as far as investment and squad strengthening is concerned.

I agree. Taking the Mboro job was a high risk gamble, that has failed.Gareth would do well to have a go in the Dutch or German Leagues to gain some international management experience.

That is my point. He'll leave them for the first bigger job like replacing MoN hence why I'd think it would be a goer if we offered it him. He is not a loyal manager. I know Hibs fans who are still spitting feathers 10 years later following the manner of his departure.

He'd be a reasonable enough appointment. I'd like a better more glamorous appointment, mind.

so all in all, after another day,
we still have no idea who the next manager will be, not supprised as MON only left a day or two ago, but you'd have thought there might have been some proper ITK into the mindset of Randy as to his replacement, as it is the list of about 30 candidates has still not been honed down

no idea if Ireland is or isnt signing,

and even the Milner transfer is still right where its been for the last 6 weeks

Maybe so Sandman but Mc Leish would be better than the majority of options out there, I think he would love the job and do it well.

all those guys that love the 4-5-1 formation would love him, he always swamps the midfield, and plays one up front.

he's incredibly negative, the football would be worse than MON, but we probably wouldnt lose many games

I saw Steve Staunton (or his double) by The Shakespeare in town at about half four.

Don't forget that he got the better of O'Neill in Scotland, and he would have much better players at VP than the crap he has got at the Sty.
