I still haven't ruled out KMac being made permanent manager. As has been said before he is very ambitious,  seems to have good tactical sense, and by the sounds of Friedel's interview yesterday is well-respected by the players. If we beat West Ham well on Saturday he could be rewarded with the job full-time.

Ricky Sbragia. That's all.

Doesn't the fact that the role of manager is so much more complex now than it was in 1982 mean that you're comparing two totally different scenarios?

As opposed to the bloke who waltzed off less than a week before the new season.

To be fair, we're hardly like Sunderland were when Sbragia was manager either, so each of our points is as irrelevant as the other's.

Even though football itself has evolved, in that ideas behind tactics, sports science and man-management have changed since '82, football management is still essentially picking the best team possible and hoping that they carry out your instructions correctly on the pitch.

what's alladyce done wrong not to be in with a shout?
He did excellently at Bolton and pulled off some "glamour" signings when he was there.
Things were taking time at Newcastle, but they were impatient and fired him. They went down!
He saved Blackburn from relegation.
He's experienced and wouldn't need any settling in time.

Allardyce has never shown any indication that he understands football above the "knock it into the box" level.

I know that's how the media perceive him..but I think that's just too easy to say.
MON was a bit like that...but nobody admitted it. It's all to do with how much each manager can be bothered to do to keep the media on side..

If that fat Yam-Yam comes anywhere near B6, other than with Blackeye, then I'll shoot him.

There's a difference. MON saw the football we played, which was much better than anything Allardyce has produced anyway, as a necessity of where we are in the league - unnecessarily so in my opinion, but that's what he did. Allardyce actively encourages this Hughes/Reepian football as a genuine way to win things.
