The only reason you'd have Beckham is to increase your turnover through all the stuff you could flog off the back of his name.

I'm on the Hagley Road - I'll pop down to the Hyatt and do a room by room search.

You're a good man!!

It's how he makes a living, if you need a knock off Rolex John is your man.

Watches are old hat - I've moved on to cars and small firearms now.

We wont appoint today, however would be encouraging to know the board are being pro-active in seeking at a replacement.

Will the supporters respect Sven though? there'll be very little honeymoon period for him I imagine. He seems to be quite an opportunist - only last month he was saying what a lifelong Liverpool fan he is, just as the Scouse job was up for grabs. He seems to follow the money and I wonder how much loyalty he would show us if another job came up.

I don't like him, don't trust him and I wouldn't want him in charge of Randy's money.

maybe you could say the same about O'Neill.

The thought of having Svenis in charge of my Villa makes me feel a bit shit

Couldn't agree more with this. I really don't want him in charge of the Villa.

Can't understand why some think his teams play good football either. Have people totally forgotten the turgid stuff England churned out under him or the very pragmatic football Man City played while he was in charge? It was hardly Joga Bonito stuff.

I think it's pretty assured they're being as pro-active as possible, they'll hardly be sitting around doing nothing. What I hope, and think, is that they won't be panicked.

I'm not championing Sven or anything but here's his honours list...

Göteborg
Svenska Cupen Winners 1979, 1982
Allsvenskan Champions 1982
UEFA Cup Winners 1982

Benfica
Portuguese Liga Champions 1983, 1984, 1991
Cup of Portugal Winners 1983
SuperCup Cândido de Oliveira Champions 1989
European Cup Runners Up 1990
UEFA Cup Runners Up 1983

Roma
Coppa Italia Winners 1986
Sampdoria
Coppa Italia Winners 1994

Lazio
Coppa Italia Winners 1998, 2000
Italian Super Cup Winners 1998, 2000
UEFA Cup Winners' Cup Winners 1999
UEFA Super Cup Winners 1999
Serie A Champions 2000
UEFA Cup Runners Up 1998

England
FA Summer Tournament Winners 2004

That's mighty impressive.
If you forget the Notts County/Mexico debacles, which were just bizarre quite frankly, what has he done to not be considered a top manager any more, really?

Didn't Sven leave Blackburn in the lurch a few years ago. Agreed to join them and then fucked off when an offer from Italy came his way.

He hung on at England to screw every penny out of the FA, preferring unemployment to taking a lower paid job......

My main concern would be as to just how carefully researched our appointment had been (no matter who it was) if we were to appoint someone today.

Which is why we won't, I suspect.

Maybe the research has already been done.Randy may have been known that MO'N may walk over finances

Not really done a lot in the last decade though has he Maz?  You're right, that was impressive in Italy especially, but England weren't exactly a joy to watch, and I didn't like the way he constantly overlooked Barry at the time.  He also played Scholes out of position on the left a lot of the time.

Odds are just starting to lengthen again, 365's gone to 2s, and Betfair and Daq have pretty much as well. Only BluesQ and 888 still have him at evens.

Don't want Sven at all. Whilst that list of honours is impressive, it's been 10 years since he won anything. Now he's holding his hand up to any job that's going.

I'm sure randy has not been totally shocked with mons departure and has probably given previous thought to who he would want if mon should go, a quick appointment wouldn't shock me.

I agree I wouldn't be disappointed with Sven, Southgate well that's a different matter completely
