what im still stuggling to understand is why the whole back room staff have gone too. when a manager resigns the whole backroom staff dont usually go too... it just seems more like they were sacked

I don't see why not Chris. It was only at Man City under Shinawatra that he had a large kitty and that pales into comparison to what Hughes/Mancini has. He managed to operate under a more conservative environment at some of the other clubs he's been at
Ottmar Hitzfeld would be my 1st choice. We have to go foreign and tap into that market.Sven would undoubtadly be the favourite.

we should give kevin mac and sid a go, at least until christmas, see where we are then. Macdonald seems a sound guy, respected by the players, cowans is obviously a legend. There is no interesting candidate in that list of names - god help us if we end up with southgate or curbishley or bob bradley. The problems - right back, heskey, etc are pretty obvious, not sure we need somebody coming in and starting from scratch. Do it the liverpool boot room way... save a bit of money, keep it villa
