Sven Goran Eriksson? Jesus wept. No thanks.

why not? One of the most successful managers in European club football history.

When he has money. When he doesn't have money, I feel he struggles. Plus he's failed to adapt tactically from about 10 years ago.

what im still stuggling to understand is why the whole back room staff have gone too.  when a manager resigns the whole backroom staff dont usually go too... it just seems more like they were sacked

To be fair, they are a team. They arrived as a team, and they leave as one.

Why would they not go? They know they will get a well-paid job alongside O'Neill wherever he pitches up next.

The more I think of it, the more I think we should go for Eriksson.

Do you think he is able to operate under the changed financial circumstances at the club?
I don't see why not Chris. It was only at Man City under Shinawatra that he had a large kitty and that pales into comparison to what Hughes/Mancini has. He managed to operate under a more conservative environment at some of the other clubs he's been at, plus I don't think the well is dry for a new manager. It just was for MON.

I'm not totally sold on Sven, but I wouldn't be against it.

I'd like Moyes myself but doubt he'd leave Everton for us. I think Jol's over-rated

And I suspect that will be the response to most appointments.

For me the only "no,no's" are Bilic and Bradley ( Dolly simply a joke).

Normally when a manager leaves the rest of the backroom staff go too. It's the whole package, if they dont go they soon get sacked when the new manager comes in

That is simply not the case. At Benfica he had the biggest budget in Portugal, at Lazio Cragnotti was signing cheques like he'd been told it would make him irresistible to women. The fact is that Sven needs the money, and would not operate well under our new constraints.

Ottmar Hitzfeld would be my 1st choice.  We have to go foreign and tap into that market.Sven would undoubtadly be the favourite.

Why do we have to go foreign? We have a predominantly British squad. The problem is not the Nationality of the manager, it is the level of funding available to him.

we should give kevin mac and sid a go, at least until christmas, see where we are then. Macdonald seems a sound guy, respected by the players, cowans is obviously a legend. There is no interesting candidate in that list of names - god help us if we end up with southgate or curbishley or bob bradley. The problems - right back, heskey, etc are pretty obvious, not sure we need somebody coming in and starting from scratch. Do it the liverpool boot room way... save a bit of money, keep it villa

Disagree. We need a signing to capture the imagination, boosting our crowds, getting the media onside and convincing Ashley to stay.

Unfortunately because of MON's timing,  I think we do need a new manager to unify the players and fans and to bring a "fresh start". Also we will have no first team coaches, Goalkeeping coaches, Head Scout etc

We need a new manager to bring in his team. People who he has worked with and understands
