I really do think we're stuffed. The jobless manager list is so depressing. The appointment we make will be unambitious and desperate .6th will become 10th will become 17th.
I hope Randy pays the required and makes an appointment that fills all of us with just a little hope for the future.

i liked mon and i liked the stability of it all.  but i have said before that even if we sell milner he couldint buy new players  because of the wage bill not coming down enough. just suprised it wasnt established in may.  May be a new guy (another american bradley) will utilise fringe players and youth players a bit differently and get more out of them.  always thought mon had integrity

Slaven Bilic  has a far greater knowledge of European football and is widely considered one of the best young managers in the world. Not saying he's my first choice, but he's surely on the shortlist.
Considered by whom and why?

Because he stumbled to Euro qualification ahead of the most inept England side in a generation and then failed miserably the following tournament?

What are his other credentials?

Bradley is the type of manager I can see at Fulham, not, I hope at Villa. Sadly I am more sure about those I don't want than those I do. That said I think Jol or Bilic would be my favoured two from those betting lists.

Oh he had integrity alright, allied to the most risk-free constipated outlook on tactical nous since Nigel Worthington.

I can't really blame Lerner too much. 100mill plus, ploughed into transfers, and much of it wasted.

I do see why Martin felt he'd hit the brick wall, but by the same token, he's wasted too much on drek with high fees and wages, and then not even played the drek.

And Lerner we always knew was not a bottomless pit. Somewhere along the lines he needs to make some money. Getting offered crazy money for Milner and soon Young, he'd actually be foolish not to sell. In the case of Young, I hope he is foolish. For this season at least. So much of how we will fare, will be on Young now.

I'd like to see MacDonald and Sid given a crack at it together. First and foremost they'll want the ball on the deck a lot more.

Bob Bradley?

Can he fix it? No, he probably can't.

It has to be Martin Jol or Gus Hiddink although I can't see the latter coming here knowing there's nowt to spend.

I can see Yankee Doodle Bob coming and that's depressing

Billic has an aura of invincibility about him, he seems a similar sort of manager to Mourinho to me - creates a 'world is against us' atmosphere among the players and is such a big personality all the spotlight is on him.

I wouldn't mind him.

Understandable but I really think we will need someone with more experience, you also wonder how much they would want it given that they have been here so long without apparently showing much interest in taking over at lower league clubs to give them that experience.

This will be Randy Lerners first managerial appointment for Villa, so will be interesting to see how he approaches it in terms of time taken, the sort of candidates considered suitable, and how ambitious he is in attarcting a big name. Maybe only our second ever non British manager ?  Should he consult the our club President who has experience in such matters ???

Yes. By crack I mean just a few months though, and bide our time for the right permanent boss to come along. If it ends up going tits up like Ince at Blackburn, then a quick stabilising move like Curbs might be needed.

That is of course unless Randy is willing to fork out to buy out another working manager, or someone like Hiddink asap. Which seems unlikely.
