From experience of the people I've met up there, I disagree, but that's only anecdotal. I must say that as a neutral Englishman, I expected the Celts to be less friendly than the 'Gers, but I couldn't have been more wrong. As for them both being bigoted, to me that's like saying the KKK are bigots, but the blacks are just as bad because they hate the Klan.
