Good game.

But they have GOT to get rid of that bloody stupid rule where players can get booked for celebrating, for fuck's sake the bloke has just put his team in the play-off final. Fair enough if you incite the away fans or jump into the crowd, but all he did was take his shirt off. People in suits taking the fun out of football.
Exactly that. According to an episode of QI, the reason the players are booked for taking off the shirt is not crowd enciting, it is the sponsor on the shirt not being in picture, be it photographic or video, when the goal is scored.

So did a Man U fan go to Anfield especially to put that banner there? Isn't that a bit, dare I say it, "small time"?

For such a big club it's amazing how small time their fans are. About 70% of their chants are about Liverpool, another 20% about Man City/Arsenal/Leeds/Newcastle, with the remaining 10% whatever song they've stolen off Villa lately.

Could be Swansea - Cardiff at Wembley...oh dear.

If it transpires that it is Swansea-Cardiff then they should play it at the Millennium Stadium and let the good citizens of South Wales pick up both the pieces and the policing costs.

I don't agree. If the Cockneys expect a billion pounds in lottery/taxpayers' money to build a national stadium in an inaccessible part of an inaccessible city, the least they can do is pay to look after the fans who attend games there.

My dad is a train driver for First Great Western and his route is the Cardiff - Paddington one. As soon as Cardiff were confirmed for the play offs he booked the weekend off, just in case.

I understand what you are saying there Dave, but this has been in the laws for quite a few years now. Do players really need to take their shirt off to celebrate a goal? Its only crept into the game the last 15 or so yrs. The international board decided its a yellow card offence, yet players still do it. maybe in certain parts of the world people find it offensive, i cant remember the exact reason trhey gave for deciding this.

With you on this but lets try a new plan. Why don't we go there and get pissed if they lose and share in their pain? I can get the briefs out from Eversheds to pay the bar bill!

See my post above DV. Its to do with the sponsor on the shirt. Companies want their brand in the newspapers and on the TV when a goal is scored. It was decided that this would be a yellow card offence.

Whatever the reason it's pathetic, I have no idea why players rip their shirts off after scoring but it really doesn't hurt anyone. If he had already been booked he would have missed the final for celebrating probably the most important goal of his career, madness.
I hadn't thought about it before but I reckon Glasses is right.

It was a hell of a goal,so he can be forgiven for taking his shirts. I know its a rule, but can't see who its offending, unless the player has a planned quotation on his tshirt underneath, which like the Bebeto baby celebration should be a red card.

Would like to see Swansea go up,they play good football, and their player Dyer reminds me of a young Tony Daley.

They don’t just get booked for taking their shirt off though do they, it’s virtually any ‘over’ celebration or fan interaction after a goal.

Ninian could be moody though.

Not sure whether their new ground has lost its edge.
