I'll be asking them in song the next time we get drawn at Brentford in the cup.

Messi is the best i've seen since Maradona. Whether he can be classed as being as good or better will be at the end of his career with the period of greatness and trophies won. At the moment, you just compare technical ability and he and Maradona are in a class of their own for the past 30 years. The next level are Zidane and Gullit for me. Not commenting on before that, as it's before my football supporting time.

Good to see the cheating, dirty tactics that got Real a fortunate win last week proved to be their undoing this week. Whether it was a sending off or not, they had it coming. The Rugby Union style antics with the constant man handeling and stamping were a disgrace.

Messi is something else, you cannot put a price on him? Barca had 72% of the possession!

Barcelone aren't averse to the dark arts when it comes to play acting and dramatics, Busquets and Alves in particular.

However, it was good to see football triumph over Mourinho's industrial and over aggressive approach. You reap what you sow if you choose to play centre halves in midfield to stop teams playing.

As for Messi, he has world class players around him but he is touched with genius - like Maradone and Pele were. He is so like Maradona in size and shape - short, stocky and unbelievable balance.

Messi is and will go down as one of the best in the history of the game. He is consistently(which I think is the most important thing) sensational.

Agree, an amazing talent.  He's not been helped at inetrnational level by not being allowed to play in his best position.  In the last World Cup Maradonna deciced to build his team around Mascharano (sp?) rather than Messi - shrewd move Diego.

Last night's game sums up what has been one of the worst seasons of football I can remember. It actually stretches as far back as the World Cup.

World Cup was a massive let down, no cracking games, crap final and semis, no breakthrough stars except maybe Ozil and Muller.

Champions League - boring and predictable, with most ties being decided by the end of the first leg. Notable exceptions the Spurs Inter fiascos and in particular the 2nd leg of Inter - Bayern. True examples of teams going hell for leather for a win but perhaps more pertinently true examples of awful defending.

Then there is the Premier "Best-in-the-World" League....Man Utd are stumbling there way to winning it this year and a player like Darron Gibson will get his hand on a medal. Same old same with the rest of the challengers. Man City have the money and have spent enough to become an exciting prospect but are one of the dullest teams around with a collection of thoroughly unlikeable group of players. Relegation battle is tight and maybe a little exciting, but that is more down to the general lack of quality in the league and all the teams being able to grab points here and there.

It's sadly ironic that there has never been more money in the game and so little quality, excitement and passion. Messi stands alone as the exception. The way players are being pampered from as young as 14 (probably younger), living in this parallel world where they are superstars before they play a first team game has rendered them devoid of the qualities of character that make truely great footballers.

And as for the referrees......... :'(

Might your perception of the season not be tainted slightly by our lack of form and fortune?
