The Champions League is a cracking competition. The group stages are a bit stale, but the knockouts get better and better every year. I long for the day we get there.

I feel sorry for Shakhtar, had the legs been the other way round they'd have had a good chance, but Barca will make the second leg a formality tonight, I feel.

Hate wanting United to win but I don't want any grubby cockney hands on the European Cup.

It's the kobayashi maru of football

Another tedious crowd summary from Chiles. Look at the bloake in the black shirt, oh I'm so funny, pseudo self depreciation, etc, etc.

would be better If it was knockout stages were from Round one..    most of the competition is just a waste of time.

He may not be at Delfouneso or Agbonlahor's level of footballing excellence yet but give him time.   :o

...and still Torres and Carroll  £85 million =  0 goals

Darren Bent   £18 million = 5 goals      and the media reckon we paid over the odds.....

Grubby little competition that lost all its kudos when they started allowing teams in it that had not won their own leagues to qualify. Every team we beat in 1982 were national champions. Having said that, when we are in it one day I may give it a bit more attention.

More insightful analysis from ITV:

"If it stays 1-0 to United then they'll definitely have the advantage".

Amazing.

You say knock out is exciting but 3 of the 4 second legs are dead rubbers.

I was going to post earlier about their half time analysis. They really are crap. No replay at all of that goal line clearance even when Harry referred to it. Some really facile comments from Chiles and that's it. Dreadful dreadful coverage.
