To me the Wigan player made a fair challenge to the ball but Rooney's reaction was over the top and the ref was right behind it. He should have at least been booked.

I doubt it was a fair challenge for the ball as the ball was nowhere near either of them but blocking off happens everywhere on the pitch off the ball, flying in with an elbow to the head does not. I expect the FA to say the ref saw it and dealt with it on the pitch and they cannot override the ref's (starstruck) decision on the pitch.

Especially as the ref didn't see it,or didn't see it fully. Fergie has already laid down his marker in the press today, and no doubt that the powers that be will shit themselves and do nothing.

Its going to be very interesting to see what happens with this tomorrow..........If Clattenfergie did see it then the FA should suspend him for not sending Rooney off for a violent act of foul play and if he did not see it then Rooney should be banned for 3 matches immediately an he would miss the Chelsea/Liverpool and Bolton games

Yep you're right,if Rooney doesnt get suspended, then the Ref should be taken off the list for a few games.

I'm still convinced at a heavy defeat today at Wembley will see the Rags season collapse. Plus an Arsenal win should open up another place in Europe for whoever finishes seventh this season.
