I wish we signed Sturridge a few years back, I'm sure I remember us sniffing around. Bloody waisted at Chelsea, cracking player.

We were in for him but like Sidwell, etc he went there for the money

Maybe they went there because they thought they were good enough to challenge for a place in a better team?

Sturridge went to Chelsea, a better team, without having cemented a place at Man City, though.

We didn't sell Cahill for buttons.

We swapped him for Widow Twankey

That scissor kick by Cahill against Blues wasn't special however if Rooney does it,,, it'll be out of this world.

Indeed, but professional footballers aren't known for lacking self-confidence.

I'd be very surprised if the main reason that Sturridge chose to go to Chelsea was "I'll earn a few more quid" rather than "they're a much better team and I'm good enough to play for them".

He wanted to leave because MON told him with Knight, Davies, Cuellar and Laursen around he  had no  future at VP!

At that stage he wasn't as good as any of them. He has developed since but, understandably, wasn't willing to wait around on the subs bench till he was ready to replace one of said players.

Not better than Davies or Knight?  You're having a laugh.  Davies was another up and coming youngster who'd had a couple of decent season in the Championship and the Premier League, same as Cahill.  It's just that we signed one for £8-£10m, and sold the other one for five.   Knight has never been as good as Cahill, and never will.

Knight and Davies both had spells where they were very good for us. If you choose to forget that, that's your problem. I am not commenting on That Bolton Defender any more as it is beyond boring. We should never have let Frank Barson go. Rinder Out.

In news from abroad, Schalke manager Felix Magath has started a Facebook page to seem more accessible to fans. He's another one, like Lobanovskyi or Stan Cullis, who seems to have completely gone against what he was like as a player now he's a manager. Great playmaker for Hamburg in the '80s, star of their European Cup winning side, and now he's a despotic cross between Mourinho's football and Van Gaal's personal skills. Hence the Facebook page to try and stop the fans disliking him.

Cahill is good, but he's not that bloody good. It might explain why no-one has come in and paid silly money for him yet.

Sidwell's touched the ball more in the opening 10 minutes tonight than he did in his whole Villa career!

What a dreadful game!

Hoddle "I like to see that in a player, being able to play with both feet, it makes such a difference in a player."

It makes you sick to think that players are earning what they do today and can't play with both feet, he made is sound like it's hardly a pre-requisite of a Premiership football player, which we all know sadly it isn't.

Apparently Fulham have been doing extra training in advance of facing Torres. Practising goal kicks.

Torres subbed again.

Is it just me who thinks he won't be a success at Chelsea?

The new Chris Sutton?
