How the fuck has Suarez been credited with that goal?

Probably because the media fall over themselves to love the red scouse and king kenny!

Yes. As per my previous post.

If it's going in should the defender not be there then it's the striker's goal.

If the defender  intervenes to turn a shot that's NOT going in into a goal then it's an own-goal. So yes, of course it's Suarez's goal.

I'd think the fact that Wilkinson put it in 2 yards in front of the line would've meant it was an own goal

Just seen the Blose penalty decision on MOTD. Looked like obstruction (or "impeding the progression of an opponent as it's now called apparently) to me, which I'm pretty sure is an indirect free-kick and I'm pretty sure referees are still allowed to give indirect free-kicks in the box.

Any of our resident referees care to share their thoughts as to why you never see indirect free-kicks given in the box?

The only important factor is "if Wilkinson were not on the pitch at that time, would it have been a goal?".

If the answer is yes, then it's not an own-goal.

Unless you play for Brazil and are called Ronaldo. (2002 WC versus China)

Got to be honest I don't see it as a Suarez goal, it was quite clearly the defender who kiced it into his own goal, he even changed the direction of the ball. Probably on purpose as well because he was bored or something.

Carew made some good passes and almost scored in the second half, still hasn't scored this season though.

Its a difficult one, i would give the penalty he's deliberately tried to stop him. Also with the Craig Gardner giving the free-kick away for the 1st and the commentator just saying he fell. Was a free kick
And while im on the subject Luis Saha's goal for Everton, i can see why it was given, Liverpool had the similar situation a few weeks ago think it was Elmander that got the touch and the goal was given. I asked a higher level of ref and he said its such a grey area its hard to get the right decision in those situations

Reading v QPR has just got interesting, a straight red in the 43rd minute and fully deserved IMHO. Warnock looks like he is ready to pull the ref's arms out!

Routledge scores a late winner.  Is that 8 points clear now?
