But we almost certainly won't be.

I'm as worried as the next man, and as angry as well, but about 75 percent of the posters on here need to take a bit of a chill pill. Someone referred casually to "as we're almost certainly going to be relegated" in a post the other day.

If this were spring 1940, you'd all be learning German, stacking your wirelesses up at the police station in anticipation and disowning all your Jewish friends already.

Isn't there some internet law about this?

But anyway the difference is in 1940 we could pick up a gun and do something about it. All we can do here is mutter on the sidelines and know what is wrong and hope someone can do something about it. Whether that is the players deciding to have some pride, the manager getting it turned around or the chairman doing what is right, (whatever that turns out to be).

The diffference in 1940 would be Martin O'Neil would'nt be around to blame.

He'd be Chamberlain.

Paulie you aint got a clue. The bottom 3 have started to show some steel and Villa have a bunch of overpaid wankers playing with their cigar out waiting for the manager to get the bullet. Who would you back against blues and wigan and wham away? it wouldnt be villa.

I'm entirely aware of our frailties, and am incredibly angry with the current state of affairs.

To listen to people talking about certain relegation, though, is patently absurd.

Why?

When I say something as fact I tend to have some form of evidence.

Dave i take it you watched the last 12 months of games. Tell me honestly if you would fancy villa to win against those teams?

I'm not talking about the results, I'm referring to this idea that the players are waiting for the manager to be sacked.

Three teams you mentioned - Wigan, West Ham and Blues.

West Ham - we slaughtered on the first day of the season.
Blues - we very narrowly lost to after having played them off their own park.
Wigan - below us in the table, only won twice at home this season.

I agree with Paulie. Yesterday some of the things said on here were pure madness! I am disappointed that we are doing badly but our last 7 fixtures have hardly been 'gimmies' for us. I am confident that when we have our players 'match fit' we can put 3 or four wins together in Feb/March and finish the season 8 to 10 points clear of relegation.

As an aside, I think Heskey has become crucial to how we play now and he was a big loss when he went off against Spurs and against Man City. He brings our midfield higher up the pitch with his hold up play. I actually think if he had stayed on we may have got a point against Spurs.....never thought I would say that!

We could well be bottom in a game or two.

But we almost certainly won't be.

And that's on the home front. God help us all if they were actually in the trenches.

I think another 16-18 points will keep us up. Bear in mind we have these games coming up, I am pretty confident: Sunderland (H), Blues (A), Wigan (H&A), Fulham (H), Blackpool (A), Blackburn (H), Bolton(A), Wolves (H), Newcastle (H), WHam (a), Stoke (H), WBA (A).

We also have other possible points games live Everton etc.

I am confident we will do in.

You know Paulie away from home is the test. 3 of the poorest teams and every one of them would beat us hands down. Oh and now its the Heskey saviour when he plays we will win comment.  We have a clown in charge who gets an erection when liverpool play. To think Sam Allardyce could do a better job, what a fukin joke.
