Barcelona were as brilliant as Madrid were bad.  So much for the influence of 'the special one'.

Apparently Xavi completed 110 passes tonight - more than anyone else in a match this season, and he didn't even play the full 90 mins.

Did anyone give up El Classico to watch Curtis Davies play against Forest?

Madrid weren't bad it's just that Barcelona never gave them a sniff they were made to look bad by a brilliant Barcelona team that had 8 players that had come through there youth set up in the starting line up. It was billed as a battle between Messi and Ronaldo. Messi was superb and Ronaldo was limited to a few long range shots, I think Messi can justifiably be called the best player in the world.

Not once did they even consider playing a long ball over the top for Villa or Messi to run onto, they were bloody brilliant. Xavi and Iniesta are footballing perfection.

I said ths last night, but also the way they all work so hard to get the ball back when they don't have it. Impressive stuff.

I think Pep says that when they lose the ball they have to get it back within about 10 seconds, and fall back into formation if not...something like that anyway

Evidently they spend a lot of time in training working on getting the ball back quickly which is obviously to the detriment of their passing.

I have never seen a team create space as we as they do with simple passing. Three, four, five yard passes that seem inconsequential but it always opens up space for players to run into. Astonishing control and understanding between the players.

To be honest, we create space with simple passing, too.

Collins hoofs it 60 yards out of defence, everyone starts chasing it, hey presto, space created.

They're taken football to a new level that makes everyone else look second rate.

They took 'celebrity' and tedium to a new level that makes everybody else look second rate is my guess.
