No doubt we'll be told that Spurs are going to be champions after that. On planet Earth however, we all know it means Bale is off to United in the summer.

To be fair he's potentially as good as Giggs for his age.  They still lost, don't get too upset!

All the good laughs of 89 minutes spoiled by Benitez telling his players to take a break in the second half and Gareth Fucking Bale.

RAFA OUT!

Bale will be gone come the summer so spurs fans ought to enjoy him as much as they can this season

Got to eat humble pie after treating him as something of a joke figure in his early days at Spurs...

TBF as a defender he was ( and probably still is) a joke. As with Glen Johnson, they are essentially wingers who are played as supposed defenders. 'Arry finally realised this and moved him further forward.

I just text exactly the same thing to a mate of mine. He was very very good. Shame they were so shit in the first half.

Am I missing something ?? The scoreline says 4-3 but the whole of ITV sport are behaving like Spurz won.

By the way, another tactical masterstroke from Benitez: he brings on the stationery Cordoba to play at right back and moves Maicon into a roving role upfield, with little or no defensive responsibility. Gareth Bale then scores twice. Honestly, people in England fauned over his supposed tactical genius, and for what reason? He has a notebook which he writes in. I've never seen much evidence that he is especially marked out for his tactics, not at Valencia, not at Liverpool and not now at Inter.

Even though spuds lost, of course the deluded spuds fans and manager will think they've somehow 'matched' the European champions on the pitch after a 'valiant' effort after going 4-0 down which means they can still go REALLY far in this competition.

Am I the only one who doesn't hype up Bale as everyone else? Lets not forget everyone used to take the piss out of him no more than 8 months ago because of his winless record at Spurs and being considered a 'shit' left-back. Decent left-winger, but he's only played that position for about 6 months... Ashley Young is better. I think spurs should use their brains for once and hold Man Citeh or whoever to a joke amount of money for him. Modric is better than Bale too.

He fluked a European Cup final by putting on a player he should have started with and having an outstanding player to pull his team out of the shit.

Ashley Young pre Sunderland sending off yes. Ashley Young currently no.

To be fair with the Bale comment, you pointed out he was playing at left back when he was described as being awful.  He's now playing on the left side of midfield, and six months is a reasonable amount of time to be consistantly good, especially considering that he's yet to be out of form in that position.

Always said that. It also helps like tonight when one team has a comfortable lead in the first half. Mostly the winning team will ease off and the other one plays without pressure as they have nothing to lose.

Ashley Young was the best left-sided winger in 07/08 and 08/09 getting into the Premier League team of the year and winning Young Player of the Year. Bale hasn't achieved what Ash has achieved.

Young at his best > Bale at his best

He hasn't been at that best for a long time though... In fact it's been so long I doubt he will get back to that.

Bale is not world class but he's much better than Young at the moment. Indeed at their best I wouldn't put much between either possibly even with Bale edging it.
