Thanks Wigan. First decent news in about fifteen years, or so it seems. If, and it's a big if, we win tomorrow we'll go top six. Top four if Blose and Bolton draw and Man City don't win at Sunderland.

Doesn't this end that rather convoluted and bland statistic of Wigan never having won in London that is parroted with depressing regularity?

They have two Premier League wins at West Ham and Football League wins at Brentford, QPR, Leyton Orient and Barnet. They also won at Wimbledon, but they had moved to Milton Keynes by then, the season before they changed their names to MK Dons.

Yeah, I heard them booing at full time on Soccer Saturday.

Spurs flatter to decieve once again... surprise. They're gonna have it hard this season trying to prioritse both the league and Champions League.

The footballing gods return from their holiday evidently as Spurs lose. They are a good side but nothing like what they are hyped up to be and so these sorts of results will always be on the cards for them. Bale has been excellent for them this season but they're really not that great when you disect them man for man, particularly as their team is full of typically over-rated english players. Oh how I laughed when I heard the result....

My Luton supporting mate isn't too happy either Dave!

Bit of a smash and grab effort but we'll take it.

I think the CL, as exciting as it is for Spurs may prove to be their undoing in the league. They will be aware that spending heavily to compete in it maybe counter productive if they cannot stay in it by finishing 4th or higher this season. With Man City on the horizon, they may also be wary of over extending themselves squad wise, yet they may do so anyway.

Agreed, good times.

Can't wait for them to get stuffed in the group stages and end up finishing 14th in the league.

Spurs are finding out that the reason Lampard, Gerrard, Rooney and co. can play 60-odd games a season is not so much physical fitness - if you don't have that you shouldn't play in the Premier League full stop - but more mental fitness. It's like test match cricket, the really difficult thing is to keep concentrating ball after ball, game after game. That's a crucial reason why the top teams and players are the top teams and players, and Spurs are going to have a time adjusting.

I think Bolton's kit manufacturer should have had a closer look at their reserve keeper before chosing a colour palette.  Oh dear.

A very nice weekend all-round. Hardly held out any hope for it, but it's turned out smashingly.
