The last signing you got excited about?

No signing MON has made got me excited. Some of them have gone on to be very good players, but at the time of the signings I either didn't know enough about them (Young, Carew) or theyve gone on and improved greatly (Milner)

The last signing that got me really excited was probably Merson.

Dean Saunders, with Staunton and Hougthon too its represented a shift of power at the time from merseyside to the midlands.

Quote from: "Simba"
and as a kid: Freddie Mwilla, Emmant Kapengwe and of course Oscar Arce.

And you thought Balaban was a mistake...

Dont forget Oscars brother Hector Fallone too, who I think got a couple of run outs in the reserves. Combined with the Docs pronouncement that 15 year old Jimmy Brown was already virtually guaranteed to become captain of Scotland and one of the all time greats we were set to rule the world.
What a shame Oscar didnt make the first team and play alongside Barry Hole.

Petrov, Angel and Nillis all stand out.

Laursen and Collymore too.

Prior to him i was pretty excited by the signings of Deano, Savo, Curcic Collymore, Ginola and Nilis. But then i suppose a lot of people were. I even thought Adrian Heath would do a good job back in the summer of 89 and wasnt at all sure about the signing of Paul McGrath!

Having thought about it, and not wanting to make anyone vomit, I remember being really excited in the last few years by MON arriving, which i  guess technically is a signing. When I saw him on the telly being mobbed at Villa Park it bought a tear to me eye.

Yeah I wanted Carbone to stay, he was just such a likeable character as well as good footballer.

I got really excited about Collymore, I was so sure he was going to help make Little's team into a great team.

Ashley Young. There's an old boy drinks in the local, name of Space Cadet, he's a Watford supporting ex-town planner whose conciousness got lost midway through a u-turn out near Barnard's Star.  Anyway he swears blind that Young will be the greatest player the world has ever seen.  So that's at least 316.42% Gospel.  Fact.
