Friedel - Beye, Dunne, Clark, Young - NRC, Petrov - Albrighton, Young, Downing - Carew

No Gabby at all, presumably injured? Doesn't look like he''ll get off to his normal flying start this year but Carew seems in good nick.

Is Davies injured too?

Davies picked up a knock against Benfica. Nothing serious apparently. It was probably when he got skinned for their 3rd goal (I think)

Shitness knack. Been suffering from it a long time by all accounts.

Is that a good Valencia side?

Oh Ugo as a pundit.

Was he hinting that a deal had been done for Milner there?

Didn't recognise Ugo with all that hair! He did seem to be hinting that the way had been 'smoothed' for Milner to move on - and given that Milner isn't even on the bench again I wouldn't be surprised if something happened over the next few days.

'Something may happen on that in a couple of days'

Maybe the Mail journalist was onto something?

MON has just said the same (about Milner, not Ugo's hair).

A good performance today will lift my spirits a bit. Then get Jimmy out asap, Ireland as part of the deal. Use the remainder of the proceeds to get another central midfielder (not sure who) and right back (eg Manolev). I'm less convinced we need a fwd if we get Ireland.

Are we really singing "shit support ma'lord" in a friendly against a team from hundreds of miles away?

I would lay decent money that MON was talking about Milner with Capello there.

I was wondering whether, unlikely though it sounds, it was a witty self-deprecating joke, given the empty seats.

Considering we sung out while being outsung by about 4000 Brighton fans last season...no it wouldn't.
