There is an amusing level of weeping going on over the pre-season. It serves us all right for being on the internets though so often and being so engrossed in it.

Aye. pre-season games mean nowt. Good result or bad.

It's not about the preseason, though, is it?

It's not as if we've suddenly started endlessly twatting it out to the wings and hitting hopeful balls into the box while we've been in Portugal.

I don't really care that we lost tonight or against Bohemians, that's by the by, it is pre-season. But we're seeing the same tactics we've seen for a long time now, and it doesn't augur well for the new season.

Unless something amazing happens in the next two weeks, but short of lightning strikes and huge quantities of mind bending drugs, I can't see Martin changing his style between now and then.

As ever, I agree with you Paulie. Sure, pre-season games mean pretty much bugger all, but it is the bigger picture which is so dispiriting. I see absolutely no change in tactics or personnel for the new season. Things are not going to change one iota. If we're going to end up trundling along in 6th place playing Sheffield Unitedesque football, then I am going to be on the 'MON out' bandwagon by about the end of October...

'We played against a side who always keep the ball, they played some little one-twos, and your chasing the game for long periods of the match'.

Crikey, MON did notice.

Ads, you may be fit, but are you the level of fitness of a Premier League footballer? If you are I apologise. But I do think it's all too easy to blame the heat.

I’m the fitness of a rugby player- so fitter. ;)

Shitting in pint glasses and drinking other players' piss keeps you fit?

So my 'Peace Cup winners 2009' tattoo was a waste of time?

When eaten with your five a day- yes it does. Try it for a week- you'll notice the difference.

heh. yep. pre-season kick around. NRC was one of our better players in that tournament and he was frozen out most of the season.

Just got back from Portugal. We really were very bad against Benfica, who looked a far superior side to us against both ourselves and Feynoord (who were shite). Not to keen on the Benfica fans, but the Feynoord lot were a good laugh and have a nice photo with my mates and some Dutch nutter with scene of 82 tattooed on his back.

Portugese women. Oo la la.

He went on...

"so when we do get the ball we need to knock it wide as quickly as possible and get the ball into the forwards to score a goal. Maybe even get a free-kick or corner. That would be terrific"
