Penrith win NRL grand final for first time since 2003.

Catalans play Saints next weekend. Fully behind our French brethren.

Some intense games in the NRL playoffs (I'm not calling anything but the final a finals game), particularly the Panthers-Eels match. Was quite pleased to be able to say I watched >80 consecutive minutes of pointless rugby league recently (the second half of that match and the first half of Wigan v Leeds).

Catalans play Saints and the referees next weekend. Fully behind our French brethren.

Toulouse in the Championship Final, too. I've adopted them as "my" team since Catalans signed that wanker and Toronto got chucked out.

That wanker has fucked off since COVID. You gloryhunter!

In related news, Saints narrowly beat Catalans in the final thanks to the fucking cheating corrupt English referees.*

* Great game, both sides were ace but there were a couple of dodgy decisions** à la Manyoo vs Villa but what can you do? The Catalans Dragons can be proud.

** James Maloney was punched by Mata’utia but did they go back and look at it. No. Also, for Saints' second try the ball was down before the line and slid over. Video refs gave it though.

Of course! :)

But seriously, have you ever been to St Helens?

Yes. In related news, SWMBO's boss has been called up in front of the 'commission' for laying into the refs' decisions via the press.

Does he own the team?

I have no interest in Rugby League, on the basis that the support play is terrible and it's just glorified Rugby Union Sevens.

However, I decided a couple of years ago that Leigh Centurions are my team, due to my 3x Great Grandparents moving to Atherton in the 1870s.

Plenty of distant Redsox relations still in the Leigh area. :)

I see that their sojourn to Super League (as a replacement for Toronto) ended after just one season

I used to live and work in Leigh for a very short time. There are probably grimmer shitholes in the UK, I just haven't been to many of them!
