I'm going to the World Cup tonight, NZ v PNG. Hope it's not too one sided. I'm looking forward to the Haka.

Well it was one sided but at least PNG got over the line a couple of times. Enjoyable evening.

While not a huge fan I do like a bit of rugby league so was looking forward to the World Cup.

Unfortunately the idiots running it decided to put 95% of the matches on a channel with about five viewers. Wasted opportunity for the sport.

One possible side effect of having it on Premier Sports is that every game has seen a big crowd, eg the biggest crowd for a sports event at Huddersfield, a sell out at Hull, Halifax, Rochdale etc.

Is it the most underwhelming World cup of any sport? I've been to a few Rugby league matches as my wife is from Wigan but the games were always massively onesided encounters.

Well that must go down as one of the best matches ever. Nip and tuck all the match and the Kiwis scoring in the final seconds to draw the match and then win it with the conversion.

Yeah great game, really enjoyed it. If I was a proper Rugby League fan I reckon I'd have cried after that finish.

Absolutely heart breaking to lose in the last 10 seconds like that, although there was a sense of inevitability about it....an absorbing contest though, but i think the players involved will take a long time to get over it.

First RL game I've watched in donkey's years, great entertainment but as exiled said a certain inevitability about it in the end, that high tackle really cost England the game rather than the blitz defence.

A perennial problem with international rugby league. The Aussies are too bloody good and aside from England and NZ there's no-one who even comes close. The tri-nations was flavour of the month a few years ago but seems to have been dropped and in fairness, today aside, some of the best games this tournament have been between "lesser" nations.

Great wasn't it. I have a residual interest in Rugby League from my time living up north as a teenager though I've never been a true fan. Proper hard men playing that sport, each of them look like they train in the boxing ring and run 10 miles up on the moors every morning. The whole-hearted, honest commitment and physicality puts a lot of footballers to shame I think

If only one of the players hadn't committed a crazy, needless high tackle with the game won.

Anyone seen the incident that caused the sending off in the St Helens v Wigan game last night?  Jeez...
