I don't know if he'd come any good but I am a big fan of his and for this only I  feel disappointed for this transfer.

Ben Foster is not a great signing.  He looks like a world-beater occasionally but he could probably release his own goalkeeping calamities DVD.

Let's wait and see of Zigic.  It's best not to forget the hype that was given to Benitez and Figueroa before they made no impact in the Premiership.  Plus, do they really need another goal-shy big man to partner their other goal-shy big man (ie Jerome) up front?

In response to the locked thread: why on earth is anyone buying the Evening Mail anyway? It's an awful newspaper!

They don't. The circulation has dropped by somethinglike 50000+ in the last 7 or 8 years. I managed to get out whilst they could still afford redundancy........  thank God.

Today's Mail "Exclusive"

BOWYER : I TURNED DOWN REAL

The football World was reeling last night from the sensational news that midfield legend Lee Bowyer had turned down Real Madrid to stay with the Champions-elect what have the name of the city in their names and make all Villa fans jealous.

His agent, Adolf Kalashnikov, revealed exclusively to our man in the bogs Colin Tattum "Lee was approached by a number of clubs, including Aston Villa, Leeds Rhinos, Aston Villa (God I hate them) and Real Madrid. He has always had a soft spot for Real, especially when he noticed that their fans like to boo non-white players and were happy to employ fellow BNP supporter Jonathan Woodgate".

However it seems that Alex McLeish's ambitions for Theybreakyourearts City have swayed the combative midfield battler. With the pride of the Second City (yeah, second city - take that, Manchester!) finishing in the top half for the first time since 1913 last season it seems inevitable that Champions League football beckons within the next seventy-eighty years.

This is the latest blow to supposed "rivals" Aston Villa who are still reeling from their failure to sign a taller player than John Carew, their embarassing defeat in the 1963 League Cup Final and their inability to have the name of the city in their names.

Nice.

Twattum is indeed a lying Twat.

From the OS:

No Villa Interest In Zigic

By Paul Brown

Comments reportedly made by Nikola Zigic's agent, Milan Calasan, are untrue.

Aston Villa did not make any "11th hour" attempt to contact the Serbian striker's representatives.

No contact was made by the club on the day that Zigic arrived in Birmingham - or at any time before or after.

Villa boss Martin O'Neill, responding to speculation about the then Valencia striker in 2008, went on record stating: "There's not a grain of truth in the story that we've put in an offer for the player and I don't know where it's coming from. I don't even know the player's agent."

The player's agent sounds suspiciously non-British to me. I'm not sutprised Martin hasn't heard of him.

The agent was also done for illegal transfers in France a few years back. Search his name on the net and he's described as 'Controversial agent Milan Calasan'.

The Birmingham Mail is a fucking disgrace. Firstly, for even thinking about printing this tripe and secondly, for employing Colin Tattum in any capacity.

I'd never tell anybody what to do with their money but it will be a cold day in Hell before I buy that "publication" again.

As this bollocks was written by Twattum and became public domain (false) information, I'm sure MON can sue Twattum.

In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if the writ was already in the post.

I think the local media have always viewed Blues with disdain - perennial underachievers, aggressive scruffy working class Brummie bastards as fans, shocking Press facilities, tatty old shithole of a ground etc. etc. St Andrews is a pretty frightening place for the outsider to visit.

You have pretty much surmised the club there. What makes blues blues.

Except for maybe Gabby. I don't think Gabby finds it "pretty frightening" does he?

I'm sorry we are dealing with a seriously fucked up class of people here, there's not a more bitter bunch of bastards out there in the world of football.

We are their oxegen.
