*While we wait to see photos of Stephen Ireland awkwardly posing with a Villa shirt...*

I find the Guardian daily transfer rumours posts unfunny and rarely indicative of actual events. I'll take it back if they get this right:

Quote
And finally, Aston Villa will get over the loss of James Milner by having a night in with a big bar of Galaxy, a pile of Matthew McConaughey DVDs and a stack of More! magazines. If that doesn't work they'll sign Ajax's Ghana-baiting genius Luis Suárez for £9m.

It's not mentioned anywhere else.

Bit on the fence about Suarez.  Seems to have a lot of talent,

However, strikers signed from the Dutch league have in recent years mostly flopped.  Depends how much of the Milner money we are going to spend.  If its only around that £9 million mark, centre midfielder, (flamini possibly).  If its the whole £16-18 million, wouldn't mind taking a gamble on Suarez.

Can't see us getting Suarez for a penny less than £20million.

"What's in the bags, Stevie?"

"Barry's shorts.  City still haven't found a dryer big enough for them, so he's asked to sneak 'em through at Villa and post them back to him."

Apparently K Mac has been on SSN from BHX (loving the abbreviations... or LTA, if you prefer) saying he will sit down with RL and PF when gets back to discuss further signings.

Whoop de doo. That's reasonably hopeful. I'd sure as hell trust K Mac with the money more than MON. He has no track record, but his eye for talent seems impressive.

Just can't agree with that, but that's all I say on the matter before we get into ANOTHER debate on MON's signings.

As for KM's comments, this does suggest to me that Randy is seriously considering him for the job full time!

Give it him on a one year deal until an outstanding candidate becomes available.

If he does well, leave him in it.

I know, I know, me neither really, I was being a little facetious. But you see how much money he wanted to spend on McGeady when we have Albrighton already and you start to wonder.

That's only if you believe the papers. We mde no formal bid and there was never any quotes where he stated a firm interest. Just the obvious lazy MON-Celtic link.

If we were going to get into this, which we're not, I think it could only be judged on players he DID sign and not paper speculation we have no way of knowing the truth of.

Of course, in which case he generally did very well but not always got value for money. I won't get on his back for the lateness of the deals, as that's his style and it has its advantages, but the value wasn't always there. Anyway, we're not getting into it, like you say. I was always a supporter of his policy, it's just the liberating effect of a display like Saturday's has on the subconscious.

Anyway, transfers. Javier Pastore anyone?

True, I was merely throwing names around.  They're different players though. One option would be to be really radical and play Ash as a withdrawn centre forward with Pastore, Downing/Albrighton and Ireland interchanging behind as they can all play wide and through the middle. Don't know where I've got Pastore from, but a man's gotta dream.
