The Mirror reckon West Brom want Sidwell. I would not be unhappy if they got him, and then completed the triple by signing Heskey!

Please, please God.

Maybe Shorey's repaying the favour Sidders did himtwo years ago, and is recommending his old mucker to West Brom.

Aston Villa in Pole position to sign winger Kamil Grosicki

Aston Villa have made an approach for Polish international winger Kamil Grosicki.

The 22-year-old has won three caps, and impressed with his first division club Jagiellonia Bialystok.

He sure seems like a talent to could "bloom" at Villa Park and turn out to be a big "Producer" for the club.

My girlfriend's 18 year old nephew plays for Pogon Szczecin's U19s* and is visiting us at the moment. I'll ask if he has ever encountered him....when he decides to rise from his pit.

*He's a right-back! Hoping to come to London and study at Universoty next year. Surely a second division Polish youth player could get a look-in at some London non-league sides?

About a new striker:-

Someone mentioned about having Huntelaar on loan, which would make sense given the managerial position.  He's good enough to be a guaranteed asset to any new man coming in, but then if he wants to go a different way next summer we simply don't make it permanent.

However, I'm starting to wonder if we are actaully in the market for a striker at all?  Against West Ham, and to the best of my knowledge all through pre-season, we played in a 4-4-1-1 formation.  Ash is the natural to play in that hole, but we will also be able to use Ireland there.  So, with the previously expressed concern over high wage earners not getting a game, are we going to have 3 players (Gabby, Carew + a new signing) for one position?  Maybe the plan is to rotate Gabby and Carew in that role and give Weiman and the Fonz games in the cups?  I'm just struggling to see the finanical justification in having 3 high wage earners with two sitting on the bench.

I had considered that before. Getting a new striker only makes sense if we're playing 4-4-2 a fair bit (which we shouldnt completely abandon).

Regardless, Heskey has to go. I think we all agree on that. And whilst getting a new striker in would be exciting, do we really want to hold up the progress of Delfouneso and Weimann further?
I'm not sure.

"No problem, Heskey would love too."

The value of another striker is that it gives us options.  At the moment if Gabby is still out tomorrow we'll start with carew and the only option to replace him with an experienced player is heskey, which means we have nothing we can do if we're chasing a goal, other than throw on one of the youngster and hope they do it.

I'm all for letting the fonz and weimann get experience but that should be done by bringing them into games where we're leading and they can be involved and maybe get a goal or 2.  It's putting a lot of pressure on them to bring them on when we need a goal.  Some players thrive on that, others wilt.

Additionally who's to say that one of the current strikers can't compete with gabby for that drifting role, I think the fonz could actually do very well in that position, and weimann seemed to play there when he came on.

I think Gabby is perfect to play in the role Carew was on Saturday. And then of course Carew can do it for half of the season.

I think we can make do without any signings bar Ireland.

Flamini permanent and Huntelaar on loan would be nice, mind.

*While we wait to see photos of Stephen Ireland awkwardly posing with a Villa shirt...*

I find the Guardian daily transfer rumours posts unfunny and rarely indicative of actual events. I'll take it back if they get this right:

Quote
And finally, Aston Villa will get over the loss of James Milner by having a night in with a big bar of Galaxy, a pile of Matthew McConaughey DVDs and a stack of More! magazines. If that doesn't work they'll sign Ajax's Ghana-baiting genius Luis Suárez for £9m.

It's not mentioned anywhere else.

Well, I've spoken to Axel and his Mum, and apparently he's a nutter. Was trouble at secondary school and never finished, and was a casino addict. Hence a few clubs in short time.

Nothing rumour anyway.
