He's on 80k a week and has 3 years left on his contract hasn't he? You can't blame him for wanting the pay off. Infact it's what City will have to accept as the norm as time goes on because no other club will be able to match those wages when players move on. They give them the huge deals and then want to get rid.

It will be even worse for City when they want to get rid of the likes of Adebayor, who is going to match the 120k+ that players like him are going to be on?

Ireland is doing exactly what Dunne did this time last year IIRC.

They put him on the deal, he's not asked for a move. They owe it him.

Exactly. They can't have it both ways. They need to get used to paying off players to leave.

Milner is in the Villa squad against West ham ............Whats happening ??????

err.  He's one of Villa's best eleven players?  And until he signs for anyone else he's a Villa player?  Could that be it?

And risk 26million pound on a player who dont want to be here ????

He is on 60k a week and 10k per week on appearance which would be "none" so 45k a week at Villa plus his 2m in the bank is not bad eh ................

Ireland is right to get some money out of Citeh. Don't blame him one bit as they were quick enough to give such obscene wages and contracts so more fool them.

And if it was Heskey demanding £2m before signing for Sunderland, would you be saying the same?

I can't see any transfer deal Villa may be involved in requiring Heskey as part of the deal, do you. Ireland knows he has a good negotiating point, so he's holding out for the bunce, sounds a bright lad with a smart agent. Glad Randy negotiating.

My point is, if Heskey was being sold to Sunderland, and because he hadn't asked for a transfer and was having to take a cut in wages, asked for £2m as a loyalty pay off, people would be going mad about it.

Well I highly doubt anyone is going to match his wages here so yes unless he ask's for a transfer we are going to have to pay him off if he goes.He gave him a contract or shall I say MON did so we will have to honour it.

Comparing apples with oranges there.

City are in a different stratosphere to every other club. Just like we are milking them for as much money as we can, Ireland is doing the same.

Heskey would be told to get the boat if he tried something similar.

Yes to be honest. If the contracts agreed by both sides then so be it, although I'm sure there would be a few extra bucket janglers outside the ground on match days enabling us supporters to raise the required pay off. One game should be enough.

It wouldn't be the worst 'value' we've got in transfer deals in recent times.

We would need to pay Heskey the rest of his contract out to make him a free agent. We appear to have a number of players for sale that nobody wants, unless they are waiting for bargains in the last 24 hours.
