Until we shift players off our wage  bill, spending will be constrained. Those 8 players we listed were costing us £1m every month, yet never playing. Completely unsustainable for a club like us that has to sell tickets at pretty cheap prices in order to get near capacity attendances.

See if Sir Randy lerner the man who never speaks but we all love, does give " new man" funding

I'm betting there is money available, and that MON wasn't getting much if it until he sold a lot of trash that's built up. Problem is he couldn't move it out fast enough. I would imagine the new bloke will still need to get rid of the dead wood, but he'll be given his own funds in the meantime to get things going.

I hope you're right, even if it does show Randy to be a bit of a hypocrite, but fear that the wage issue and the 25 player rule will stop us doing much without selling.

I remember when Robson took over Boro, he spent a shed load on new players, yet apparently they were skint while Lennie Lawrence was there. Sometimes relationships just dissolve and this one clearly has. By denying the manager funds, Lerner/Faulkner backed MON into a corner. I think they took away his authority over transfers and in doing so MON felt it was time for him to move on. The new bloke will have the same agenda, but it will be impossible to hire anyone of repute if you're not going to give them money to compete. For the club it would be financially irresponsible to take a step back from where we are right now.

Surely we've already taken the step back. It seems fairly clear that spending was being reduced this season and that the wage bill had to be trimmed. Regardless of whether we think that's the right thing to do or not MON was working under different conditions to last year.

MON has made a couple of good signings, but has made many that have been a waste of money.

A new man will have funds available I hope.

Did the club ever release a statement saying why they did not pursue Beckford?

I suspect that his reported bad attitude (as mentioned on Five Live this week during the Leeds v Derby game) wouldn't have endeared him to MoN

No, he's one of a number of players about whom we didn't issue a statement to explain why we didn't pursue them. Very strange.

Something to do with Beckford being too worried to play at Villa for fear of being stalked by Coopers Injury.

If worst comes to the worst I'm sure there are plenty of clubs who would be willing to loan our unwanted squad members thus taking them off the wage bill. Even if Villa contrubuted 50% it would still free up cash to spend on a new stand / centre-forward.

I bloody hope so!

I'd keep NRC and L Young. But Sidwell, Heskey and Davies can go. (Davies on loan, especially to get his confidence back up).

A Baggies fan I work with, reckons that Davies is too injury prone. Reckoned he only played in about half the games he could have at the Albion. I think we have enough cover at CB so let him go and grab the cash.

Claims that he was being sold to Fulham.

The man himself has stringently denied it on SSN.

SSN are saying that it looks as though Kenwyne Jones may be going to Stoke.

Come on Brucie, you know you want Emile back with you again!
