Bentley's not coming then according to that font of knowledge 'The Olive Press'

I still think we'll end up with him.

Sell Milner for £15m + Ireland

Buy Robbie Keene for £7m, David Bentley £7m and Nedum Onuoha £5

Total spend (Milner) + £4m

You heard it here first ITK ...... as if ...

I must have been watching different games. The away game on a crazy windy day was the worst Villa performance I've seen in years. And yes, I know we scored first but it was completely against the run of play. Horrible stuff.

We may have been shit, but your memory is off. They had one shot, one in the entire second half and that was the penalty they scored from thanks to our super ginger ninja.

I’ve had a great time down here this summer and am sad to have to go back for pre-season training

That's what you want to hear. Eager to get stuck in and earn those big wages. Inspiring stuff.

Rosicky being linked to Galatasaray. Again, exactly the type of player we need.

Produce of Columbia. Sniffle.

Oh yes. I remember that.

I don't see how Rosicky is exactly what we need unless we need to keep the club doctor busy.

Anyone else think McGeady going to Moscow (for talks) after initially looking reluctant to do so and Albrighton's pre-season form are somehow connected?

From what I've heard we were never going to match their bid as we weren't keen to spend that much on him. That bid was lodged ages ago and the player was very, very keen on not going there.

I think we might have followed up our interest eventually with a bid but I think Albrighton's form scotched that once and for all.

I can see why McGeady would want to not go to Russia. They're notorious for their lack of caring, and for the wee lad I can imagine it being very difficult to settle in. Firstly, they won't help him find his way around the club or the ridiculous labyrinth that is Moscow. Secondly, they won't help him culturally adjust and leave him to work out the complexities of Russian society for himself, something he won't be able to do. Finally, and most importantly, there is no way he'll be able to learn the impenetrable Russian language, and they won't help him either.

Russian clubs take a very "we've paid for you, now perform, trained monkey" approach, forgetting that the players are human beings who aren't responsible for how much they cost. At least he's not going to Dynamo, which challenges PSG for the title of, pound for pound, the worst-run club in Europe. However, Spartak fans demand success - they got used to it, it got taken away from them, and now anything less and any scapegoat will be mercilessly destroyed by the crowd. If I were McGeady, I too would be extremely apprehensive about going to Spartak.

Speaking of Moscow, does anyone know what's happening with Love these days?  Is he back there or still in Brazil?

Currently on loan at Flamengo, having been on loan at Palmeiras. Still technically on the CSKA books, but he's just winding down his contract as he doesn't want to back and they don't want him back, more personality problems than Dr. Crippin.

At least he can speak the language. Plus if you're a Muscovite (I've wanted to use that word for years) then it's probably a good lark playing for Spartak. The same's probably true of Glaswegians and Celtic.

He has a family and friends in Glasgow. It is much easier to get a train or drive your car up from Brum to see them than it is some place on the other side of the continent.

That said for Shaun Maloney Birmingham might have been that far.
