Robbie Keane left out of the Spurs squad today with an "injury"...hmm?

Lets hope its a bad one.

On second thoughts, we'd probably still buy him if he was unavailable till christmans

Yes, lets hope he's injured so we cant buy him and keep Heskey in the team.

The "better than Heskey" arguement is daft. Harewood is better than Heskey so should we re-sign him? Maybe put in a bid Michael Owen. There's very few who are NOT better than him.

No better than carew or gabby. I'd want a bit more than that for the fee and wages reported.

Different to Carew and Gabby. Keane would  improve us. And if he sped Heskeys exit from the club, because Fonz wont be leaving, even better.

I know he'd improve us maz, but how much and for how long is the question. We've needed a top striker for 4 years or longer and Keane with a limited shelf life ain't it IMO

Don't see what striker we could get for £6-8m that's better than Carew and/or Gabby?

I ask myself why he'd come to the Villa? What his motivation is? Hopefully we wouldn't be offering silly money anymore so that won't be it. Miracle-Man-Manager-MoN won't be it.

For the life of me, I just can't see him doing anything of note at Villa Park.

How long for? A couple of years, until we know or have a better view how good the Fonz is for instance. Just like we gave Gabby his chance and that has and will continue to work out, I think.

In the meantime Keane would suit us and though I can think of a few better (you always can) he would make perfect sense.
So I hope he isnt injured and I hope we get him. Especially if the alternative is we dont get him and maybe get somebody worse or nobody at all.

In other words a stop gap. After 4 seasons i was hoping we'd be beyond stop gaps and near to the finished article personally. At  this rate CL qualification looks likely by 2020

You said you'd want better for the sort of money being talked about for Keane, which I don't think is possible.  So you're admitting you'd like the impossible?

As it goes I'd put him on a par with Gabby and Carew, so we'd be better overall and, as Mazrim said, he's a different sort of striker, so would give us better options and diversity.

why are we hunting in the 6-8m range for a (british based) striker though? maybe the 8m we spunked on MFH and Ivanhoe could have come in handy about now?
